Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! This year needed 5 costumes for 4 kidos!

Kalia was Tangled. Annaliesse was a butterfly at school and a unicorn for Trick or Treating. Barker was a Lion and Remy was Winnie the Pooh.

Barkers hood of his costume was soooo adorable. But the tassle-like fur would just hang in his face.

You can see the back of Annaliesses unicorn in this photo, she loved it!
Downtown High River had a few stores giving out candy, free hot dogs, a mini haunted house AND another hot air ballon basket!

The kids all got to push the button to make the air flame! The fire truck was there handing out candy too!

Poor Remy had a fever all night before Halloween and all Halloween day. She was so miserable. Mommy went with Daddy and Laura and the kids to 5 houses before I had to head home with Remy.

We started downtown at 5 and came home to do some houses about 5:30. The kids had had enough by 6:30 and came home to eat their spoils!

They got TONS of chips this year and lots of full sized chocolate bars. They had a great time eating and answering the door. In fact, I am pretty sure it was Barkers favorite thing. Running back and forth from the door to dad with the candy bowl.

I did make a costume this year for Annaliesse to wear to school. Actually 3 weeks before Halloween the girls had decided to be Butterflies so I went out and bought the stuff. Then both girls changed their minds. But after playing a couple days in her Unicorn costume Annaliesse thought she might get to hot at her school party in that one. So she asked Mom to make her a butterfly for school.

I tried to cheat and use liquid thread… but it is horrible frustrating stuff. So in the end I hand sewed the whole thing. Oh well she loved it and had a great time at school as a Blue Butterfly.

What a fun week.

Pintested 2

I felt all domestic-y Monday. In the mood for Chicken Noodle Soup and Buns. I spent the whole day in the kitchen. Between the soup and buns, I worked on finishing Annnaliesse's school Halloween Costume.

Chicken Noodle Soup first up! I didn't feel a need for a recipe for the soup- but I have always wanted to try homemade noodles… so I used THIS recipe for her noodles.

I always assumed homemade noodles would be silly hard. But their not.. just time consuming. Justin liked them so much, he tried to convince me to get a noodle press! Success I think! Here is the just her noodle recipe.

Homemade Noodles:
6 eggs, beaten
Salt and pepper
1 tbls of milk
3-4 cups of flour, start with 3 and depending on consistency add more
1 chicken bouillon

Combine eggs, salt and pepper and milk, beat together. Add 3 cups of flour into the egg mixture, stir and add more flour until needed. You can knead it on countertop. (Not too sticky is what you’re looking for, easy to handle) Roll out the dough to a ¼ inch on a pre-floured countertop. Cut in half horizontally and then cut into ¼ inch striped.
Boil water in a LARGE pot and put 1 chicken bouillon into pot. Place noodles into water and cook for 4-5 minutes until noodles float. (Recommend to do in batches to not crowd the pot)
Before adding cooked noodles into pot take out bay leaves and de-skin, de-bone and shred the chicken. Place chicken back into pot. Add noodles, let all flavors combine for another 20 minutes on a low heat. Add more salt, pepper and/or chicken bouillon to taste. Before serving take out cheese rind if any remains. Serve and Enjoy.

Then I made these Buns to go with the soup.

They were fabulous! I changed the title of these Rolls, I don't know who Lambert is… so we shall call them HEART Rolls
Heres the recipe- but if you click on the photo it will take you to the original link.

HEART Rolls

Yield:
12 large dinner rolls
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons (1 pkg.) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110-115 degrees F)
1 cup warm milk (110-115 degrees F)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) melted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose or bread flour
Butter, honey and/or sorghum molasses, for serving
Instructions:
(See additional notes for bread machine directions)
1. In a small bowl, combine the teaspoon of sugar and the yeast with the warm water and allow to foam (5-10 minutes).
2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, egg and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir.
3. Stir in 3 cups of flour. Stir or knead in another cup of flour (or more, if needed) and knead for 5-10 minutes to make a smooth, elastic dough.
4. Scrape the large mixing bowl clean (or as clean as possible) and place dough in the bowl. Grease the top of the dough with butter or oil and cover with a clean cloth. Place in a warm location (I turn the oven on for 1-2 minutes, then turn OFF and place covered bowl in the warm oven to rise) and let rise until doubled in size, about 60-90 minutes.
5. Liberally butter a 12-cup muffin pan. With buttery hands, deflate the dough and divide into 24 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Place two balls in each muffin cup. Gently grease the tops and cover with a clean towel.
6. Let rolls rise in a warm place until nearly doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes, until tops are browned and rolls are done. (Check rolls after 15 minutes, and cover loosely with foil to prevent excess browning, if needed.)
Toss hot rolls and serve with butter, honey, and/or sorghum molasses!

All it all it was a good meal. Definitely a keeper! A make againer.

Vanilla Extract

We decided to do Homemade Vanilla Extract for little gifts this year.
You know, people you home and visiting teachers, School Teachers, and Co workers.

Mom and Dad's Christmas thing has before been a open house for the ward, but for those who you teach its nice to give them a little something something.

SOO for the last couple of years, I wanted to make homemade vanilla extract!
Grandma and I ordered all the supplies, paid someone to pick up the booze and got to work…

THEN, Grandpa brought it up that its kinda like handing out Bacardi Soaked Vanilla beans to members of your ward. NOW I totally disagree, Grandma and I would LOVE to get homemade vanilla as a gift… but are we alone in our thoughts?

Well, we had all the stuff, and made it on Friday.

Answer me truthfully, if you are, or can imagine to be LDS would you be offended by my making Homemade Vanilla?

Pumpkins

Its that time of year again.
Pumpkins, guts, knifes, paint, guts, seeds, guts… kids love it. Mom and Dad help and clean up.
Everyday for a week the kids have been asking if it is time to do pumpkins, Friday was the day.

Best thing about craft paint… you can wash it off, and they can paint them again and again!

Remy could be a poster child for a baby swing. She loves it! As soon as we put her in it, turn it on, she looks up into the mirror and laughs, coos and smiles.

She hates her bumbo. Longest time in it… 5 minutes.

After the painting, its time to carve the big ones.

Snapshots

THANK GOODNESS ITS FRIDAY!!

What a week! It seemed like it would never end, but at the same time it flew by. I got through it... with a couple cases of DP and in a permeant state of exhaustion. I didn't do anything super fantastic, but my body it be hate'n on me.

Love this Remy kid.

This crafting group is kicking my trash… well not really, but it is time consuming! Next week, onto cutting would for 50+ projects.

Taking advantage of the couple days of GREAT weather.

Picking up a few things, for different project happening tomorrow.

Got my Grinch craft done!
