Halloween Trick or Treat

Halloween 2015
A thief, Skelton Pirate, Knight and Momma Monkey.

Before we headed out trick or treating we headed into Calgary to see Grandma Moxley and Aunt Sherilyn. We visited for a bit, had a nice visit. A quick Costco trip and then Trick or Treating.

Remy and Barker lasted 4 blocks, then Barker just wanted to come home and eat candy.
LOL

2 Lumberjacks came by to see the kids... they even brought big chocolate bars for everyone :)

The girls and Justin got home at 8:00 and then we all spent a hour sorting and eating candy. A lot of candy :)

Remy had a great time sorting. She grabbed all the suckers, rockets and gum balls, and pilled it right in from of her. She was so excited with her lot, she LOVES suckers.

One of those things no one cares about except Mom, but I finally found a plaid table runner.
After looking for months, Operation Christmas Table runner/cloth is finished :)

Remy has discovered safeway bags and they are everywhere!!

YW selfie :)

Normal after school day at our house... reading, coloring, and sword fighting

These kids are great.

Chocolate Mummies

I wanted to make something for our YW Halloween Party on Tuesday, and then my will power left. The joy of being in the Kitchen left me.
So instead of spending 3 hours making Carmel Popcorn or making more monster cookies-
I made quick (1.5 hours) Chocolate Mummie Pretzels!

SO cute.. so yummy. Total hit at YW and total hit with the family.

Makes me excited to do Christmas Pretzels- but for Christmas we add Carmel and sprinkles :)

Special Day

Barkers Special Preschool Day with Grandpa happened on Monday morning.
Barker has been waiting for this day for weeks. For WEEKS.
He has been so excited, its been hard to deal with sometimes.

Grandpa has done a special day with each of the kids so far, and its a highlight of their preschool existence. For you who deal with Mr Drew Chipman of Foothills School Division, he is a excellent administrator but a even better Grandpa!

Snack time with Grandpa and reading time with his Preschool teacher Mrs. Herr.

Saturday before Halloween

Too much fun going on this weekend!
Hotel Transylvania 2 came out, and our house LOVED the first one. Saturday morning we hit up the theatre for the early showing.

Barker and Remy did great until the last 20 minutes, they got bored and super grumpy. It was lunch hour and they both needed naps. After the movie we got the kids Halloween Costumes and headed home for the much needed naps.

While the kids were napping I made a batch of monster cookies. How cute eh?!?
Half are for Barkers special day at Preschool on Monday, and the other half are Monster cookies for my little Monsters.

After naps we did our Pumpkin carving for 2015. Such a messy messy job with 4 kids and 5 pumpkins. The kids sure do love playing in the pumpkin guts....

Except Remy. She refused to touch anything.. LOL.

The kids picked all the faces and Daddy and Mommy did the carving bit. Mommy also made pumpkin seeds and worked on cleaning... I am sure glad I changed into work clothes, I was covered in pumpkin. Thanks to my son....

And the drill bits. :)

Fruit leather, Ether and Fingernails

I ordered a box of apples last month and for some reason they went soft super fast... So I made Apple Cinnamon Fruit Leather AND Apple Blueberry  Fruit Leather. The Blueberry flavor was superb. So good. I highly recommend it. My kids are eating it all like crazy.

During family scripture study, one day this week, the kids all took turns reading. Before Justin could catch it, he had Kalia read Ether 14:22 it reads

"22 And so swift and speedy was the war that there was none left to bury the dead, but they did march forth from the shedding of blood to the shedding of blood, leaving the bodies of both men, women, and children strewed upon the face of the land, to become a prey to the worms of the flesh."

I am sitting there listening to Kalia read and giving Justin a "what-are-you-doing" look. Whoops.

This picture is Daddy helping Remy hold still while her finger nails dried.. you can tell he loved the task.

Texting Daddy up north last week.

He looks rather scruffy while hes away.

Barker is laying on my counter whining about Daddy being gone.

I need someone to put this on the back of a hoodie for me.

I took this pic Sunday afternoon.

Annaliesse is very upset she has to do her piano and home reading today. She has been bawling on and off- then she brings up this book to read! We laughed... hard.

Superman spotted at the Zoo

Saturday I took the kids to the Zoo, such a beautiful day.
Amazing weather for October.

When the kids were younger, we would go for a couple hours, then the kids would be to tired to continue, this time I took the double stroller and we went from 9-3. It was a loooong day for one mommy and 4 kids at the Zoo, but we all had a good time, with very little tears.

Barker wore his cape and mask the entire time. Taking it off only twice, eating lunch and in the sand pit, both times he was worried about getting it dirty.

Note: Sunday he was a bit miffed I wouldn't let him wear it to church.

Since the new Dinosaur Park opened at the Zoo, we have go through it every time, as per Barkers and Annaliesses' request. It's a long walk on that side of the Zoo, with lots of hills LOTS of hills.

Chocolate Ghosts

Last Friday I had a couple friends over to make Chocolate Ghosts.
I saw the most adorable link on Facebook and I totally had to try.

Jocii was all in with me, and she had time to pick up some chocolate Thursday. Krista Corbett saw what we were doing, and we were super happy to have her join us. So Friday morning we met at my house and got busy.

In no time we had some darling chocolate ghosts done. Next time we will do the dark chocolate way way thinner. WAY thinner. Also put the sprinkles on first. Soon, right after you level the chocolate.
Or they wont stick.

Also don't put it in the fridge, it will turn the chocolate around the white turn whitesh.
But those are very small mistakes, and it didn't affect the taste- just little things that bug a perfectionist.

Also we got one package of eyes for three pans of chocolate ghosts, not enough.. get more. The eyes make the ghosts darling.

Have I said how much I LOVE Halloween crafts/treats?? :)

Leaves

We had friends over for last week for playgroup.
Such a beautiful day, we headed outside after snack and spent the next couple hours playing in the leaves. The kids had a blast, they are great great kids, with amazing moms.
