Today Kalia broke her Collarbone.
We were skiing with the Moxley's and it was a beautiful morning. Done a couple of sweet runs, the kids were having a blast and it was just about perfect. Until Payton came rushing into the Lodge with a concerned look on his face telling me Kalia was hurt and crying. This is NOT normal for Kalia- it take a lot to make this tough kid cry. I was in the lodge with Remy who was taking a quick potty break. I called Justin and lucky he was super close to them- with the help of Find My Phone and Paytons directions he skied right to them.
He could tell Kalia was hurt, he helped her up and they skied down together. I met them at the bottom and we could tell it needed to be looked at. Into the First Aid Station we went, where we got her undressed from all her winter gear and the responder was pretty sure it was broken, but strongly suggested we get it check out at the hospital.
It is 10:20 am at this point. The day had hardly started and the kids were so bummed- so Kalia took one for the team. Took 2 Advil and hung out in the lodge with Mommy until noon so her siblings and Daddy could ski a little longer.
We headed home at noon, stopping for treats at the new gas station by the ski hill, as the kids were all pretty bummed and Kalia was the most bummed. Home we went, so Mommy could change out of sweats and Kalia could get shoes, not ski boots then to the hospital. Where we waited for 5 freaking hours.
Kalia is a tough butt and when they asked her the pain she said 3/10- which is probably a big reason we waited so long. We finally got in a room after 3 hours and then spent the next 2 with X-ray and waiting for the Dr. He walks in for the first visit and says I don't think its broken but we will get an X-ray to be safe. Only for him to come back after the X-ray going It is for sure broken and might need pins, I have a call into a specialist to see. The specialist called back in 40 mins saying it didn't need pins- Thank the Lord.
Kalia spent the 4 days in pain and then was just annoyed with the whole thing. Especially since we were heading to Edmonton soon for our annual swimming trip and that her ski season was over for at least 5 weeks.
