Happy Halloween!

Halloween morning we got a message that our family pictures were done, so before the kids went to school we sat down and looked at them. Annaliesse was taking pictures apparently while we looked. Remy has been home sick all week- we were really hoping she would be able to attend school today, but she just isn't well enough.

So instead of watching the Halloween Parade, or helping with the Grade 1 Halloween Party or going to visit the senior centre in her costume- we stayed home. We stayed home, snuggled, coloured and napped.

See Barker wearing his Clown Wig in the first picture? He wore that wig to school for about 2 weeks solid. He thought it was hilarious and so much fun to wear- I shudder to think what the teachers must have thought.

Halloween this year was less than last year, mostly because Remy was exhausted and fevered. She lasted 10 houses and then was ready to head home. We went with Uncle Mark and his family- its always funner with cousins!

Remy and I handed out candy for a bit at Grandmas house- they always get lots and lots of Trick or Treaters, where as we get about 2! She had a great time dancing to Halloween music and giving out the candy. For about 30 minutes at least until even that was too much for her, and we went home so she could get in PJ's and have some more Tylenol.

The big kids went for a long time with Daddy and had a blast. In our house we share all our candy and our kids are happy to do so- on this Halloween night we are grateful for the kindest our kids show each other.

Sunday after the dance we were all pretty tired. Remy and Mommy had a nap after church.

We played a few games and had lots of laughs.

Every Sunday we go to Grandma and Grandpas for dinner but this week Grandma and Grandpa are in Washington. It was a nice break to be home with out anywhere to go. We wore sweats, and ate Carmel popcorn and laughed and laughed.

The kids did a presentation on why they should get a Dog- where we laughed some more.

Halloween Dance

This year The Conways and Moxley's threw a Family Halloween Dance!!

Until this year, the Branch has always hosted a Family Halloween Dance. They decided not to this year, and lots of people were disappointed. So Angie and I booked the church, pooled in a bit, borrowed the decorations from Sister Anderson, popcorn machine borrowed from Camerons, put together a playlist on Spotify, decorated the night before with our husbands help and invited all our friends. We had so much fun!!!

We ended up with about 85 people at our dance which is a great turn out for this little area.

It was a fun Friday night in October, we got to dress up and play the night away. 

Kalia decided to go to a Middle School Party instead, where she had fun with friends. 

Kalia went as a Hogwarts student.

Annaliesse was Lady Dracula.

Barker was a French Prisoner.

Remy was Miguel from Coco.

Mommy was a Elf.

Daddy was a Santa.

We had so much fun. 

Aunt Lindsay and Uncle Mark were there with their girls- Arlie had a hard time with Remy for most of it- her faceprint scared her. Arlie wasn't the only little kid scared of Remy's face makeup- Remy ended up dancing and playing most of the evening by herself or with Barker cause the little kids were scared of her. 😅 Annaliesse hung around with Sloan and Avia which was nice, but she latched on to Arlie like usual, which was good as Arlie stayed clear of Remy. Barker had 5 little girls chase him around NONSTOP. They got told multiple times to stop running, but they were having a ton of fun. 

Remy was exhausted and done by 8pm tho. She had a club swim meet 4-6 pm and the dance was 6:30-9:30 pm. She swum like 5 lengths as fast as she could- over the course of 2 hours of course- but she was pooped. Unfortunately she ended up being sick for whole week after this busy day, I felt terrible, it was just too much for her and Im not sure she was 100% that day to begin with.

Tripleball for Kalia Tuesday-Thursdays.

Swimming for Annaliesse and Remy Tuesday, Thursday, Fridays.

Basketball for Barker Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.

Its all about divide and concur these days.

We have been able to make lots of Kalia's games, but not all as she plays games at the same time Remy has swim club. Justin is usually still at work, and Remy has to have an adult with her, but we have been to a few. Like I posted preciously Kalia is doing well so far with her Volleyball Career.

She is looking forward to trying out for Basketball next.

Every Month on a Friday they have a little swim meet within the club. This works perfect as we are not in it for competitions this year. Annaliesse is doing a BLACK level which is only to compete at 2 or 3 swim meets this year- not one a month. Annaliesse is improving in swimming, staying active as swimming 3x a week is good for her body. 

Remy is also growing like crazy. She can swim a length of the pool without help- aka a life jacket or flutter board. It is sometimes hard to watch as I feel she is TOO YOUNG to be doing that and I panic a little, but she is a natural athlete and doing so well. Justin wants to put her in Basketball next year- we shall see. 

Barker is now playing Basketball on Saturdays in the city. 

The first seeding tournament was this month, lets be honest, watching 8-10 years play a Basketball game for the first in their lives is a little painful. The first game Barker played he had NO IDEA what to do with his hands. He found a solution real fast- put his hands in his pockets. HE RAN AROUND WITH HIS HANDS IN HIS POCKETS. He is the point guard, so you can see how this was a real problem. So Justin, the coach, his mother and OTHER PARENTS kept saying "Get your hands out of your pockets!" AND THEN a few of his teammates started putting their hands in the THEIR pockets!!

We had a hour and a half break between the next game- stopping for a sewing kit at Walmart I SEWED his POCKETS SHUT. Cause that's how we roll.

The second and third game was much better, the boys figured out what all the practicing was about and put it into play in their game. Well at least some of it. Barker just turned 8 and is small for his age. He is playing against 10 year old, some of who are rather solid for their age.

Barker made 8 or 10 baskets in these games and worked hard. He is excited for his Basketball Career to move forward he loved playing. Basketball is a sport Barker will be able to play his whole life if he wants to, even if its just for exercise and family time. Grandpa Chipman still plays once a week, as does his Daddy for fun and exercise.

Missionaries came over for dinner and a lesson. It was our last evening using the screen room this year I think!

Feeling sorta bad about the hobby I have dedicated years of my life to. Until today when a lovely friend said “Quilting is cheaper then therapy!” Made. My. Month. Here are half of the quilts I have made in the last 8 years. They bring me joy, my kids memories and Fort building equipment, and they give my husband something to complain about. 😂

Ordered a couple of Giant Colouring Pages from Staples for the kids after the massive snow fall.

Usually they get another month playing outside- but not this year. They love these poster sheets from staples and have completed 2 in a just over a week!

They work on them all the time! 

Remy says the longest prayers for a six year old. "Please bless Barker that he win all the games he plays" "Bless Grandpa and Grandma that they will get all the stuff done" and of course "Bless Daddy at work and the girls be nice at school!"

Over the last month both of our vehicles have needed fixing. Thank heavens the Van wasn't too expensive and Justin was able to do the Truck his self! The van just needed a heater hose reattached and spark plugs changed (or something, I dont really know) and the truck needed a new alternator.

2019 Pumpkin Carvings

We got home Saturday from the Temple trip and hand a handful of errands to run.

Where we picked up 10 pumpkins.

Sunday before dinner we crashed Mom and Dads and craved Pumpkins.

It's safe to say they weren't overly thrilled we brought a mess with us.

Don't get me wrong, Grandma and Grandpa love having us over, but sometimes we are a big package.

We had a great time this year and had only one kid meltdown.

Compared to the last couple years this is pretty good.

Kalia very carefully carved her pumpkin- she took the longest, also the last to start as she couldn't decide which pattern she wanted. 

Annaliesse just went for it- she is a determined little thing this child. She knows how she wants it done and goes for it. 

Barker sorta started- got frustrated, Grandpa and Daddy both helping him at different times. Until he walked away and cut a pumpkin almost in half..... which is why at the end of the post you see how mad he is. 

Remy was Remy. Wanted a knife, Justin wouldn't get her one. She watched Daddy carve and helped by watching over his shoulder, breathing in his ear. 

Arlie joined us for a little while, but really wasn't interested in the project. 

The 5 Adults had a great time chatting, dealing with pumpkin guts, arguing about the Halloween music playing in the background, laughing about our carving skills and enjoying being around family.

Justin at this point was exhausted. His 4 hours of sleep from Friday night, and a busy Saturday finally caught up with him. He helped with the carving and then laid down beside the baby for a bit of a rest.
