First Snow

We got the first snow fall of the year on Tuesday. K was over joyed.

She insisted "me and A go play with the snow!"
AND
"mommy do my pictures"

And of course because of the snow she had to wear her "snow" pants! Even though it was not even slightly cold. Oh well.
I wonder when February comes around if she will still squeal with delight!!

Pumpkins

I do realize that its alittle late to be carving pumpkins. We wait for the Monday right before Halloween, and THEN we do our pumpkin carving.

To be honest the girls are still rather young and as far as K concerned she just wants to draw on the pumpkin. So maybe next year, if I can get my act together I will get a couple baby pumpkins and let them draw away.

The girls had to get right in there to help daddy draw the face.

But it seemed to take daddy SOOO LONG to cut the top off! The girls were so excited.
I LOVE this photo of A. She would stick her hand in the pumpkin and then use her pointer finger to try and pull the guts out. She thought it was rather disgusting. It was hilarious.

At first K did not want to pull the guts out either, but once Daddy got her started she was ok.

After all the guts came out, the girls lost interest.

The finished product. The girls are happy, and the K is happy that it sits on the piano for all to see!

Happy Halloween

A: Yup.

Tom and Jerry

Momma's been down for the count this week.. So the girls have done a ton of this!
Thanks for Tom and Jerry.... or as K calls it "I wanna watch dogs"

Monkey See, Monkey Do.

Monkey see, Monkey Do.

I LOVE to read, and the time I like to read is whilst I eat Breakfast and Lunch. So K has recently decided she wants to "read with my cherrios and milk and sugar."

Oh and ignore my sink full of dishes....

Cup of Tea

My sister-in-law sent me this little thought.

I laughed out loud. Hard.

ONLY A MOTHER WOULD KNOW.....

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as
A gift and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I
Brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several
Cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home.

My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of
Tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure
Enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she
Watches him drink it up.

Then she says (as only a mother would know):

‘Did it ever occur to you that the only place
She can reach water is the toilet?’

Dads don't think like Moms do.

4 days.

Last week my mom and I drove down to Utah for my cousions wedding. We left Wednesday night, arrived Thursday afternoon, wedding Thursday night, shopped Friday and drove home Saturday.

People keep asking me who the trip was.... all I can say is FAST.

The wedding was beautiful. Todd an Laura Parker make a beautiful couple.

Aunt Karen made the flower girl dresses and they were SO Adorable. Hopefully if I keep practicing someday I could do that!

I LOVE this photo of Grandpa helping Mackenzie down the stairs. It took them like 10 mins going super slow.

Olivia was so sweet to let Mackenzie help drop the rose petals.

Laura was a beautiful bride! Go Todd!

We didn't stay too long at the wedding, we were super tired from driving all day, and getting up at 5:45 that morning. But the food was great and the company was nice too.

Friday, like I said, we shopped. Stopped at a handful of stores.... but this store was my Favorite!

I traded my driving services for a trip to Joanns. I think I got the BEST end of the deal.
Soon I will show you some of the things that will be made from this stop!

Saturday we drove home.

Like a said a FAST trip.

Zeus

Remember how Uncle Mark got a puppy in July?

His name is Zeus. He now belongs to the Moxley's.

I realize some of you are reading this in total shock..... but it's true.

Zeus is a German Shepard/ Siberian Husky 6 months old. He will sit, play fetch, shake a paw, speak and is mostly very obedient. He is super happy and will go out of his mind when you pay attention to him. BUT THE BEST THING ABOUT ZEUS. He is a outside dog. 100% of the time.

For those of you who don't know me very well.... I am NOT a dog person. In fact, I usually go out of my way NOT to touch, brush against or COME NEAR a dog. Once not so long ago, we were at a couples party, and a dog come and licked my shin... I threw up a little in my mouth.

Mark recently moved into Calgary to attend Universirty, and was unable to care for Zeus, so he asked my husband (not with-in my ear range) if he would take his dog.

When Justin asked me the first time my answer was simple "NO STINKING WAY"

Justin then pointed out a couple of things.....1. Zeus is a OUTSIDE dog. 2. I love my little Brother and would do anything for him. 3. If I don't want to touch the dog, I don't really have to. 4. If we did not take Zeus we would NEVER get a dog.

I still did not want the dog.

I caved... obviously.

Justin is rather enjoying owning a dog, we have had Zeus for less then 24 hours and Justin has built him a dog house (its not quite done but almost) and is putting the electronic fence in tonight.

My girls love Zeus-eee. K not as much but A will walk right up to Zeus and play fetch with him. Despite the fact that he is larger then her!

Reading back on the post, it has come to my attention that its all about ME. Well!! Ya it is! My children are LITTLE. My husband WORKS. I AM THE ADULT at HOME 24/7. Of course I am going to have to deal with the dog.

Although I have to be honest, when Mark got this dog... I somehow KNEW it was going to become Justin's dog. I KNEW it. I believe in personal revelation.... even when for something you desperately do NOT want to happen.

Wish this family luck.

October 14, 2010

I'm off in Utah for my cousins wedding.
I love weddings!
If I could marry my Justin every year I totally would.
Maybe I would still cheek him.... maybe not.
Anywho...

October 13, 2010

Normal

If you stopped over at the Moxley's at about 6:45-7:15 p.m.
this is what you'd see-

right before the girls bed time routine we relax for about 15 mins to Gerald Mc Boing Boing or Dora or something.... ok so I guess you could say its part of the routine.

I would LOVE to say that we do something like this.... instead of watch 15 mins of T.V.

Guess its just another thing I need to work at!
But lets be honest..... by the girls bedtime, I'm ready for bed too.
I'm just being honest.

Thanksgiving

This year we had the privilege of 2 Thanksgiving Dinners!! YUMMY!

I didn't have to cook anything but a Turkey and we ended up bringing 1/2 of it home for BUNWITCHES!

We spent Saturday and Sunday with the Moxley's, we dried some apples, visited Grandma Selman, played at the park, watched a movie (half a movie anyway) and had Turkey dinner!
It was nice to have the girls play with their cousins and it was nice to visit.

It was such a nice day on Sunday we ate our dinner outside in the garage, it was beautiful!
A sure enjoyed Grandma Moxley's Pumpkin Tarts!

The kids ate their Thanksgiving dinner on the front lawn on a blanket... and I think ALL of A's ended up ON the blanket...

Monday we had Thanksgiving dinner with the Martins. Lots of the Martin Family was able to attend and as usual it was a big affair, we now hold family do's at the church. The girls ran around the church, and played basketball with the men (sorta of).

You should have seen A eat her cake and ice cream! She downed it like NO ONES BUSINESS! K carried around her plate and kinda ate it. Its kinda frustrating the girls won't eat with lots of distractions-- unless its ice cream.

My dad just got back from Florida and bought us all shirts and the one of the ones he got A was my favorite. It says"You cant spell Awesome with ME!"

Even though our weekend was crazy we still worked on someones Christmas Present!

Barker Selman

On Saturday, Terry (Justin's mom) asked Justin if he wanted Grandpa Barkers Machete from Tonga.
Justin said something along the lines off "HECK YA".

So they got to taking and Justin asked where the big machete was, Terry said its not in the house, the only other place it could be is in the shed.

Justin leaves the house and 25 mins later, we go looking for him and
this is what we found...

He had come across Grandpa Barker Selman's War trunk! We looked at Grandpa's uniform, boots, hats, and lots of odds and ends.

It was neat to see the trunk lined in Old Newspaper from 1915.

Justin also found a old Raymond High School Sweater! For those of you not familiar with Raymond.... our colors are now Red and White, not Black and Orange.

Justin also lifted down another trunk. This one is from Grandpa Barkers first mission to Tonga.
It had lots of old mission papers, a cane, paddles and lava lava's.

It was really exciting to see some of the things Grandpa had and touch the things he had used durning the war years and his mission.

Thanks Grandpa Barker for leaving us a amazing legeacy.

Another Bold Move

My choice in Decorating has been called BOLD.

From the Recipe to my Photo Wall to the strips in the girls room and the Wording downstairs.

Some of you may fancy my bold- in your face- color and style.... some of you think "oh my heavens. Look what she's done!!"..... and yet some of you leave my house and may not want to come back.

Everyone has a opinion and is entitled to his/her opinion.

I ordered this saying from a party a while ago, when it came in
I knew EXACTLY where it was going to go.

On my FRONT DOOR.

I did another BOLD thing :)

I wonder if Justin will notice??   He doesn't notice- until K points it out and he says "Oh great another da** sticker."  Oh well.... Its my house :)

Me loves it. Do you?

Its Fall Around Here.

Yesterday the girls and I enjoyed a day of Fall!

We ventured out to stay and play where Pumpkin Play dough was a hit. So much so we made our own today! It smells fantastic!

Then later that afternoon we headed to the park. K didn't even get on the playground, she spent her time picking up leaves and screaming "Look at this one MOM".

After about 1/2 hour of watching her enjoy the scattering of leaves at the park we left to search for PILES of LEAVES.

The girls LOVED it. We stopped at the Stake Center and looked around there, then moved down the street to a great pile on the side of some house.

We then stopped at Addie's house to say hi, and came home with ANOTHER dehydrator! Amelia is looking to sell it at the Garage Sale on Saturday and I connived her to let me see if I like it.

When we got home the girls headed out to the picnic table for some serious leaf coloring. I tried to show the girls how to make leaf prints, but they were just happy to have markers to color with.

A eats markers... so they are not ofter colored with. Also note A baby beside her coloring. She will do NOTHING without her babies.

K was so excited she headed next door to show Gramma and Grandpa, but they were not home.... after tears were cured we settled for saving them for daddy.

So there we are with 2 dehydrators going and dad calls to say lets head into Lethbridge to go swimming! The Fun Fall Day was SUPER LONG and TONS OF FUN!

Naps/Quiet Time

There's a song I like to sing frequently..... I sing it at either 12:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. it goes like this.

♪ ♫ It's the most wonderful time of the Day!!
ITS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE DAY!!
Where its blankets and sippys, babies and milk.....
ITS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE DAY!♪ ♫

I heart nap time.

A naps like a dream. She goes down for 1.5-2.5 hours. Its fantastic. And for the most part she never fights it... she almost is relived often enough.

K just recently out grow the actual napping but I quickly taught her quiet time. She gets to watch cartoons or a movie on mommy's bed and if she wont stay on mommy's bed it gets turned off and she has to lay with no movie. (I only had to do that once)

Nap Time could be called Mommy Time.

I almost never clean or do housework... unless its mopping (cause it is impossible to mop with a 1 year old).
I usually do things  I WANT TO DO.
Craft, blog, sew, scrapbook or bake.... ok and sometimes shower.

I love my babies, but for mommy to be on her best behaviour I need some down time too!

Becoming

Today I.....

Officially became a Moxley.

I am making dried apple slices and fruit leather.

My mother and sister-in-law have been dehydrating for years, its a special treat to eat Kim's homemade fruit leather or dried apple slices. Hopefully someday soon it will be a treat for my family to eat MY dehydrated apples!!

I am also a official Martin.

I can set a quilt up and tie the whole thing in a morning. Hopefully someday soon I will be tying a quilt that I made, and still helping grandma with the ones she made!

I sew too, skirts, tops, crafts, blankets, and maybe one day my daughters wedding dress. But we're still working on little doll dresses for now!

I am also a official Chipman.

I can make Aunt Mary's buns. Not today, but I am doing it on Saturday for our family Thanksgiving dinner.  (the below picture are of buns I made 4 years ago, these days they are much more uniform and less bumpy!)

October 5, 2010

K

K has been saying the funniest things lately!

Yesterday Justin asked K how her dinner was, and she replied "let me think about it dad."
Ha ha ha. I love it!

Last night she was eating her snack before bed, she looks at Justin and goes "What ya thinking about daddy?"

This morning  K keeps saying "Oh that's sweet."

Oh how I LUVE watching her personality shine out!

Share A Meal Monday

I got this recipe off a Fast Meal Group ages ago, and it quickly became a family favorite, we eat it at least twice a month!

Fast Beef Dips
(cheap-o way!)

I buy the shaved Roast Beef packs from Costco that comes in a 2 pack, (beside the bacon)!
1 pkg makes about 5-6 sandwiches.

On the stove, with 2 cups boiling water add a Au-Jue package (Superstore or Safeway). Add in your shaved roast beef to heat it up.  Then place your heated beef on buns, sprinkle with cheese (feel free to add onions and roasted peppers but MY husband just likes cheese) and pop into the oven set on broil.

Leave the buns in for about 2 mins or so, just to melt the cheese and crisp up the buns a bit.
Serve with the Au-Jue sauce for dipping and fries or carrot sticks!
YUMMY!

*NOTE: You do NOT have to use Au-Jue Packets.... you could just use beef oxo!

Horrendous Friday Relaxing Saturday

Oh, how can I tell you just how relaxing Saturday was?!?

The first Saturday, in MANY, Saturdays when we just stayed home. AAhhhh. It was so nice.
I do feel bad that Justin worked outside all day, getting our yard ready for winter, moving bricks, washing the truck and van, cleaning the garage, taking things to the dump, and all the while letting the girls "help".

And I.... well... I sewed a skirt for A out of a skirt I bought at thrift village for $3.00, it was a cute print but WAAAY too big for me.... but i made such a cute skirt for A!
and I watched General Conference, then skipped off to have a girls night out.

It was a lazy day for me and just another work day for Justin.... although after Friday- I felt I deserved it.

Friday. Oh how I curse you Friday October 1.

The day started out normal enough. I headed over to Amelia's along with Lisa, sewed up a blanket for new little Pagie Chipman whilst Lisa and Amelia made Peach Pie. We lasted at Amelia's house until my children were so over come with grumpiness we left. Headed home, had lunch and I put my 2 children down for a much needed nap. After about 25 mins I went in and both girls were almost asleep, well by this time I had a pounding headache and headed into my bed intending to just rest my eyes... I wake up 1 hour later and go to check on the girls.... what do you suppose I encountered??

A box of eaten crayons and this...
That's right. My children had colored all over the bedroom. Ahhhh! I was very um... disappointed? Is that a good feeling word?
Any who. They both get put back to bed. K would not go to sleep and instead banged on my bedroom door  (I had separated them so A could at least nap) for 45 mins until I let her out.

As soon as my back was turned she kept getting into things.... more crayons, then markers, got into Justin's candy coubard. Then A woke up, and they headed outside to play. Not 10 mins later, A come crying in the house soaking wet. K had turned on the hose and soaked her and then placed the hose IN her diaper.

And if you think that was the end of it.... you are mistaken.
The day just kept getting more and more.... interesting??
By 4:00 I called Justin to say this "if you are not home at 5:00 or (tearful mumbling threat)".

It was a horrendous day. I sneaked over next door to Grandma for some WD40 (it took the crayon RIGHT off the wall) and later she told me she had never seen my face so red and eyes blazing.

It was a horrendous day.

But its over... and a new week is starting. YEAH!
