Lacrosse Camp to a Close

Proud Daddy Minute.
Barker had his last day of Lacrosse Camp on Saturday.
They scrimmaged for the first time right before the ending. Barker scored 2 goals.
Cause he is fantastic.
Spring Lacrosse starts conditioning in March and then season play in April.

PS I totally know he is 5, and its just a goal. But he is fantastic. Also my only little boy who I think is fantastic.

Young Women Winter Camp

Reading Week is such a great time to do a Young Women Winter Camp.
Thursday & Friday we headed out to Dana's House, our Secretary who lives on a farm on the outside of Nanton. Before we left Susanne and I did up a little owl for each of the Young Women attending.
IT has this years theme on it, to remind them what we are learning this year and to remind them of camp.

They turned out really cute. All I did was cut a 6 inch piece of 2x4 and then using the scroll saw to make the ear things. I, as in, Justin cut the owls, I made dinner while he worked in the garage. The rest was just painting the edges and back, and then using scrapbook paper and modge podge to form the owl.

Back to the actual camp. I took very few pictures but luckily Sussane took a ton. The girls slept in the barn in a awesome Fort, Brother Cummings made for them. They got set up when we got there so they wouldn't have to do it in the dark.

We spent the rest of Thursday riding Go Carts, Drinking Hot Chocolate, a Scavenger Hunt, then eating a ton of candy from the Scavenger hunt, shooting guns and playing ping pong. We had a amazing super of Dana's Homemade beans, had a fire pit and sang songs. Sang lots of songs, LOUD, lots of loud Disney songs. Then warmed up inside watched 17 Miracles.

The girls slept till 8:30 the next morning. We finally woke them when Breakfast was right ready. Down time for a while that morning while it warmed up, down time included, these Chinese Gambling Machines but I can't recall the name, Ping Pong, playing the piano, leg wrestling and for some napping.

Then a day of learning how to rope, which lots of the girls rocked at!! Amazing Race next, I participated as we had 7 girls and it was a game in teams of 2. The race started off with moving 3 bails, 200 feet away and back, Frisbee toss, shooting a gun, bail dragging, nuts and bolts sorting and then starting a fire and building it enough to roast a marshmallow. Teegan and I were in second place until we kicked trash at the Nuts and Bolts sorting... we got the lead and headed into the fire building in first place. Where we totally lost it. The fire part was hard... hahaha

Did I mention the food was awesome, the girls planned all the meals themselves and our littlest Beehive made Grilled Cheese for Lunch Friday. After the amazing Race we were able to play with Dana's mini horses. The girls brushed them and braided their hair, then Dana hooked one up to the mini cart and the girls each got a ride. By this time it was close to dinner and we were all cold. More Ping Pong, Pool, Piano, Leg Wrestles and Cartwheels. Friday ended with a amazing Brisket smoked all day, a Fireside on the theme and Ephrims Rescue. We got the girls home late that night.

We had a great couple days with the girls. Have I mentioned how much I love my calling... and these girls!!

Tuesday. Good Day.

Tuesday.

You know when you have a friend/cousin who your rather close to. Except you can go weeks or months with seeing each other, and weeks without even talking but you pick up right where you left off? AND each of you take turns making the effort? Nothing worse then being a one sided friend.

Anyways Jen and I are rather close... and just like that.

Jen is my first cousin and we have been blessed to have 4 kids close in age and who like each other.

Anyways Jen came up Tuesday so the kids could play and we could chat. Morning of playtime, then afternoon of swimming. Followed by Pizza.

Good day.

Family Day

Family day!! So many options! There were so many free things going on it was hard to choose... the deciding factor, Kalia is learning about the First Nations People in Grade 4 this year. No better place to learn about the First Nations People then Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump Interpretive Centre.
We left early so we could be there for opening at 10 am and maybe do something else in the afternoon. Go big or go home :)

We watched every video and looked at everything with the kids. At 11 they had some Dancing demos and story telling which was interesting to watch.  We were able to walk out to the jump, get some photo ops and dig in the  dirt. The museum is rather small and 2.5 hours walking around looking at everything was plenty of time. Plenty.

After Headsmashed in we stopped in Claresholm for lunch and headed toward home. We had kinda planned on heading into the city but plans changed. Instead we hit Bob Snodgrass Recreation Plex in High River for the Free Family Day Afternoon of Fun.
First up the bouncy houses for half a hour, and then skating for a hour.
At this point I am ready to head home, but the kids are still not done!! Back to the bouncy house for another 1/2 hour, kids played together and Justin played Basketball while I sat on the bleachers and chatted with others.

Our lovely day ended at Sobey's for a few groceries and dinner,  BBQ with hamburgers, caesar salad and fry's. I wish we could have a Family Monday every other week. Such a good day of fun with the kids.

Happy 99th Birthday

Grandma Selman turned 99.
When a person turns 99 you NEED to have a party. Its like a thing.

Karen and Terry planned a big Party in Raymond. We headed down early so we could stop and see Grandma Martin- I wanted to stop and see Grandma Chipman but with the kids just getting over being sick, we didn't dare.

Grandma Selman is living at Good Sams and she is still kicking. She's such a easy going lady, much like Grandma Moxley and Justin. We are so lucky to still have her here on earth with us. We love you Grandma.

Lots of family there, lots of family to surround Grandma on her special day. Lots of family means lots of pictures.

Snapshots

Monday was a day of errands. A good thing to0- Remy got sick Monday night we were home bound for the next 3 days.

Valentines Day I cut out teepees for Kalia's class, and that night Justin helped me finish.

Thursday afternoon Remy started pulling out of her sickieness. She woke up after a looong nap full of smiles and no fever.

Barker wanted to bike ride so bad on Thursday. Remy wasn't quite there so he had to wait for Kalia to get home to take him. Thanks Kalia.

Crochet

Wanna know something super dorky about this girl.

If you read this blog you already know plenty of super dorky things about me....

Anyways.

Yesterday and today I learned how to crochet a dishcloth.

I LEARNED HOW TO CROCHET

Okay. Seriously.

I have tried to learn how to crochet since I was a Young Women. There was a activity once where we were taught how to do a simple chain stitch.... Couldn't do it.

Then as I was in college I tried to learn from a friend.. couldn't concentrate.

As a Recreation Therapist I wanted to know how so I could run a Knitting/Crocheting class... couldn't do it then either. PLUS I made a couple of my sweet sweet residents get so completely frustrated with me.

Yesterday, Day 02 of Remy being sick, and sitting holding her for most of the day I was bored. So Bored. So I put her down for a nap... grabbed some yarn and turned on You Tube. It was the day I was going figure it out. Remy didn't nap long so I ended up learning lots with her on my lap... Momma Style

I watched a few videos before I started and did some practicing. I worked on it all afternoon taking it out countless times!!

Started a washcloth which turned out more like a House Elf Scarf..... then my second one had lots of mistakes.

The third one turned out like a DISHCLOTH.

There are many mistakes and whatnots. BUT it looks like one!!

Its ridiculous how proud of myself I am. It feels so good to accomplish a Goal :)

Excuse me while I spend the next little while honing my dishcloth crochet skills.

Another 100 days of school Project

100 days of school project time again!!
Annaliesse has been reminding me about this for a week, and we just haven't had time until Saturday and I forgot that day it was almost to late. I remembered late Saturday night (9pm) that Annaliesse's project was due Monday.
Huge Mom Fail.
So Sunday morning before Church, Daddy helped Annaliesse while Mommy got ready for church.
I still can't believe I forgot, and so unimpressed we had to do it on the Sabbath. I'm just gonna say I am glad 4/5 no longer do the 100 days project!!!

Annaliesse had decided she wanted to do some sort of string art, There were a few provisions on the project, 100 had to be grouped in either 5,10,20, or 25. She wanted to do the number 100 with a boarder. She painted the wood, counted out the nails, nailed them in and then strung them with colourful string.

She is very proud of it.

Roughnecks at Lacrosse Camp

Saturday morning Justin so kindly took the kids to play at the church gym to play Lacrosse so I could write my talk for Sunday. That afternoon we all lazied around until it was time to go to Barkers Lacrosse camp. We showed up and there was no parking! It was insane, insane. Turns out The Calgary Roughnecks were practicing on the same field before Lacrosse camp. The kids were so excited. Then after their practice the Roughnecks stuck around for about 10-15 mins playing with the kids! Barker enjoyed it and Justin was just as excited.

Chili Cookoff

The second best time of year!!
High River Ward Annual Chili Cook off
The family came to enjoy the awesome evening.
I made a Chili, Dad made a Chili and Mile made a Chili.

Dads was on point tonight!!
He ended up winning for his second time!
The Primary was in charge this year and they did a excellent job.
There were little dixi cups so you could try all the different kinds, by the end of the night we were all very full!

After the cook off we took the kids home and met back at the church for a game of adult human foosball. It was us, Mark and Lindsay, Mom and Dad, Laura and Mile, Lauren and Darcy, Angie and Logan and the Missionaries. It was so freaking fun.
