Long long LONG ago I made my first queen sized quilt.
For my young women 10 hour project I decided to sew a quilt for my grandma. My grandma has made a quilt or two for EVERYONE: from family to friends, and victims of disaster to neighbours. So me and my innocent 14 year old self thought SOMEONE needs to make one for HER!
This is the finished quilt, with everyone in her family (at the time) hand prints.
Many MANY hours later, way more then 10, I was determined NEVER do it again.
My poor mother as she sat beside me to assist... I can remember the tears and frustration that went into that quilt! That quilt taught me many lessons starting with the planning it takes to send out for 42 different family members hand prints, long suffering, the measuring and figuring to get it all to fit, love, how much my mother loved me to sit beside me through it all, practicality and the patients it takes to sew! In the last 10 years that quilt has been from England to Majuro and survived a house fire.
Its been almost 10 years, and here I am ready for another go!
A sale was happening at our local quilting store a few months ago, and I scored big when I found
Moda Simple Abundance squares 40% off!!
So here I am making my second queen sized quilt. Nothing fancy, just going to see how it goes.
I want to know if it is worth as many tears as I remember!
