High River Children's Choir Spring Concert!

Unfortunately Kalia and I had to miss it due to the Stomach Flu we got for 4 days.

But I heard they did amazing.

This Spring the kids have been working hard memorizing more words than any other season!

Our numbers were significantly smaller this year. We are really hoping for a few more participants next year so we can continue this arts program in High River.

Barn Burner Weekend

Lacrosse Lacrosse Lacrosse

Barker played 4 games with the High River Heat Lacrosse Tyke team. 

One on Friday afternoon, 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday.

They played well, winning 1, tieing 1 and losing (close games) 2. 

Barker is doing well scoring 11 goals for his team in 4 games.

He got MVP at the Friday Game. The little Heat jersey is darling.

Parker days

Our quick 2 day visit with Eric, Tammy, Olivia, Jacob, Mackenzie, Thomas and Lucy was too short!

These cousins of ours are so fun to be around. Our kids mesh, they play well, have similar enough interests, all in all we wished they lived closer.

Wednesday we took them to the Science Centre for the day. Remy had had too much, she was exhausted from being sick. I got this sickness from her a few days later and let me say, I feel TERRIBLE that we were so busy. This stomach flu knocks you on you butt and then drains every speck of energy you posses for DAYS. Remy was exhausted from Monday Downtown Tour, Tuesday she threw up again a couple times and so Wednesday we had a plan.

I took all the kids to the Science Centre with Tammy and Eric and the kids and Lindsay and her girls. Remy played for an hour, until Grandma was done work at 11:30 and I took her to Grandma so she could go home and nap. I came back to the Science Centre with my other kids. 

Our little group of 11 kids had a great day at the Science Centre. We just did it a week prior but with cousins to do it with, it was still so fun.

Thursday morning we went swimming in Okotoks before the Parkers headed back to Raymond before heading home. Poor Remy was still not 100% and so her and I and baby Lena watched from the sidelines.  

BUT by the time Thursday was over Remy seemed to be back to her cheerful self.

More Family Today!

First day home with no barfing and enough time to do some tidying. 

And Egg Dying for Remy. She has been waiting since Saturday for this morning. 

She had PLENTY of help from her siblings.

It was nice to have a bit of downtime before more awesome family arrived. 

Eric and his family all came up from Utah for a week. Touring Alberta saying Hi to all the family everywhere. Which was really great. They left Raymond Tuesday and toured a bit before landing in High River around 2pm.

So before our BBQ family dinner we went and toured downtown High River, as Mackenzie and Olivia are huge fans of Heartland. Heartland is a TV show that has a set in High River (Maggies Feed Store and Diner) and films scenes of people chatting and walking downtown High River. We even stopped and did the Museum that has Heartland stuff in it and Heartland Merchandise. The kids liked it, it was a chance to be out and drinking slurppies, chatting with cousins and playing in the old time school house. 

Moxley's Tour Downtown

 Easter Monday we toured downtown with some of the Moxley's. We were missing 11 out of 38 (?) Which made for a large tour group. We started at the Parking lot just off of Memorial Drive and walked into Princess Park. By the time we got together and organized, with 27 people it takes awhile, it was already time for lunch. So our first stop was our packed Picnic Lunch in Princess Park. Which I have never been to before. It's rather nice.

We walked over to China Town along the River after our lunch and scramble to find the bathrooms. Now, as you look through these pics, I look unimpressed in all of them. Twas not the case, Remy is still not feeling well as this point. Like she was carried 75% of the time and I was generally worried about how she was feeling ALL DAY. So that is why my face looks like that, in every picture. HAHA

China Town Remy and I had just done a few months previous and we showed the family the little museum in the basement of the Chinese Cultural Centre. The kids really liked the Bronze Singing Fish Basin. It was created in the 5th century Han Dynasty. These bowls create standing waves, which when done right, can reach up to 3 feet high. You make the standing waves by rubbing your palms on the handles, using long continuous strokes. It is really cool. It works because of vibrations. See HERE and HERE

By the end of everyone taking a turn with the bowl, MOST of us could make the water dance. The kids LOVED it. It was chaos as everyone all wanted a go RIGHT NOW.

Just a block of so down from China Town we saw Wonderland Sculpture named Anna. Its a wire statue 12 feet high of a Girls head- brought to you by a Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. Another Calgary "downtown thing" my kids and I have not seen. Most of the Calgary kids have seen it but the Raymondites and High Riverites have not seen.

A C-Train ride down to the new Public Library, which is gorgeous. Seriously gorgeous. Again lots of the kids on the Moxley tour had never been on a C-train and it is a solid toss up if the kids liked the Library  or the train ride more. We explored the Library, some of us. The kids liked the play area and the older kids headed off to explore the rest. A little part of me wished I had tagged along to see the rest of the Library rather then being responsible and watching my 5 year old...

Back on the C-train for a few stops down to see the Peace Bridge. Did you know it is free to ride the train downtown stops? I didn't either. Anyways its a nice bridge. Honestly we were pretty tired at that point and looking forward to meeting Grandma Moxley back at Princess Park for some Pizza.

Chipman Easter Dinner

One picture from Easter at Grandma and Grandpa Chipman's. Remy was still super sick, and spent most of Sunday napping. Kalia gave a scripture in Sacrament Meeting and I sang in the choir and the Primary sang. So we took Remy for the first hour and then I took her home, as Justin works in the nursery on the Sundays there is no Elders Quorum.

We headed over to Grandmas after she woke up. To a fun Easter Egg Hunt Mark and Lindsay put on! We teamed up Adult and Child and off we went. Grandma and Barker got a little excited and Grandma took a tumble down the front stairs, she was sore for days. Remy was with Grandpa and was so excited- it was like she was 100% better. Until the end, after it was over she was sicker then before :(

Kalia and Mommy won the hunt with our awesome clue solving abilities. We had a great dinner, while Remy did some more napping. We didn't stay as long as usual, but it was a nice afternoon of family.

Moxley Easter Dinner

Saturday Easter Dinner at Aunt Karlas.

Aunt Kim came up this weekend with 7/9 of her kids and along with all the other cousins it was a lot of fun family around. The plan was to head to into Aunt Karlas for about 11- then we were up all night with barfing Remy. sick sick sick Remy.

We were sad she was so unwell, but after each barf she seemed to bounce back to normal. It was random. So we left Remy with Grandma and Grandpa for a few hours, so I could go in and say Hi to our out of town family. I stayed with the Moxley's for just over 3 hours, enough for a chat and Turkey dinner. 

It was warm enough to play outside luckily, but some of the cousins need a nudge, so the Wifi in the house got turned off, HAHA, more interaction and playing happened after that.

Barker was out playing with the cousins, something happened and he sulked on the stairs for a bit. Once he was over it, Devin was quick to bring the smile back with a quick little wrestling match . Barker needs some of that from his boy cousins, Remy is the only on who will wrestle with him, and he is SO gentle with her. It's nice to let him boy wrestling.

So I headed home after dinner, got Remy from Mom and Dad and headed home. She was getting sicker, and spent the rest of the day snuggling and sleeping and barfing. 

Then that evening she had night terrors, which we have never had in this house before, it was scary.

After I left the Moxley gathering, they got the eggs out after lunch.

This was the part Remy missed the most.

Once the eggs were dyed the headed to the Hill to Sling Shot them. 

We had to replace lots of the sling shot this year, as the boards have been lost or used for other projects. Justin built it at the top of the hill and they had a grand time aiming them at each other and targets. I spoke to other women about their Easter traditions and turned out this is not normal... but so fun.

The other fun thing about this Easter celebration...

Justin won 4 tickets on the Radio to Lacrosse. He was excited about at work, and a guy at work says I have seasons passes, but I can't go tonight. Want those? They will be better seats. Justin goes, ya! I have family planning on coming. Justin ended up with 10 tickets to the Lacrosse game that night. The plan was to just take the boys but with me at home with sick Remy he took our girls too. 

The seats they had were great. I asked if they were bummed they couldn't sit with cousins and they go "The seats were so good we didn't care!"

It was a long fun day for those three kids. Justin and the kids got home at 10:30 that night.
