Last Tuesday K started saying her ears hurt.
This is not a new thing at our house. She gets ear infections all the time, so we started with Advil every four hours.
By Wednesday night it was getting worse, she was up for a couple hours crying. Thursday she started saying her throat hurt, but she was bouncing between crying and being fine. Then again Thursday night she was up half the night crying.
Alright. Friday morning I decided to take he in- after 3 days I was positive she had a ear ache.
So I dropped A off at preschool and took B home for a nap, Mark was going to be around for a couple hours, so he agreed to watch him.
I figured 2 hours in and out to get he some ear infection medication

Nope.
The Resident Dr looked in K's ears and mentioned that they looked ok. And then he asked K if anything else hurt. She said her throat. So the Dr tried to look in her mouth, and she become hysterical.
Um… ok.
Next thing I know they are worried about her breathing, she's dehydrated and still hysterical.
Thats when they told me she is going to be there for a few hours. So I do some texting to let Justin know whats going on, and get my morning re-arragned. A had to be picked up from Preschool, Mark had to be informed..

I finally get her calmed down and she gets sent for a x-ray on her throat. After the x-ray and blood being drawn for some blood work, the Dr doctor wanted to look in her throat again, um...big meltdown. This time it took morphine to help her pain and then a steroid injection to stop the swelling, and then iv antibiotics.
Then I am told she needs to be taken to the Alberta Children's Hospital by ambulance. Oh. Ok.
I called Justin and this point and he left SL right then. I also called Shawna (our RS President) and gave her the news and a quick run down that I was planing to do that day for Super Saturday, the biggest day of the year (for my calling) that was happening the next day.
Off we go. At this point the morphine is doing wonders and K is chatting away with the EMT. She's comfortable, the iv is now re-hydrating her and she is over the moon about her new stuffies from the Xray tech and the EMT and her barbie from the Lab Ladies.

We arrive at the ACH get checked over again and the Ears, Throat and Nose Specialist Dr Brooks comes down. All of a sudden K needs surgery. Um….
Turns out she had a abscess (collection of pus) in between her tonsil and her throat. It needs to be operated on right away he says.
So 6:30pm Friday evening she heads in for a Emergency Tonsillectomy.
Luckily Justin had arrived by then and he was able to be with K for a hour before she went in. Grandma and Grandpa held down the fort at home with A and B. Grandma Moxley came to the hospital for moral support. And Shawna, LeAnn and the RS committee took care of the rest of the errands and set up for SS the next day.

K's surgery went really well. She did not do so well coming out of the anesthetic, so the nurses called me back. We had been told 45 minutes for the surgery and recovery. She was in recovery until 8:15 pm… almost 2 hours. Lets just say it took the max dose of morphine before she would calm down.
By 9 pm K was closer to healthy then she had been all day. Mom was completely and totally exhausted. Grandma and Grandpa Chipman came by to see K before they left for Florida. I left to go home to sleep and Justin stayed overnight at the hospital with K.
So early Saturday morning the 2 littles and I head out the door for Aunt karla's and the hospital. I was there at 8 and K was busy watching TV and making crafts. I spent a couple hours at the hospital with K, until we were told she would be discharged by noonish.

I headed back to High River for SS. The rest of Saturday went rather smooth. K was discharged, they picked up the kids from Aunt Karlas and headed home for some much needed rest. Super Saturday went fantastic in large part to those who helped a ton!
What a crazy 2 days. So many people come out and helped us, with babysitting, errands, pick ups, prayers and even bringing food. I can't even begin to name you all. Thank you so much for your support and prayers.
Saturday night we snuggled up as a family and watched Brave. It was sooooo nice.
