Happy Halloween!

Monday Halloween!
The morning started off with buckets of rain,
buckets! So instead of taking the bus, Mommy and Remy drove them to school.

As soon as we got home, Mommy finished Remy's Gum ball Machine costume.
Which she hated wearing and I only convinced her to get it on so we could take a pic and send it to Grandpa. She will do anything for Grandpa and Grandma!!
She put it on for the picture, whined until I took the picture and we took it right off.

BTW I am pretty sure the 25¢ needs to be smaller.
Next time.

Before to long it was time to head over to the school to help Kalia's class carve pumpkins. We took Class treats over too! Chocolate Halloween Bark for school :) Remy really really wanted to wear her Ohh Ahh Ahh costume to the school. I figure- why not... its Halloween.

It was so great to be able to help out a bit at school! Remy and I went for about 45 minutes and helped with the first stages of pumpkin carving. Cutting the tops off and helping with finished the gut scraping. Remy followed me and Kalia around the classroom in her Monkey Costume.

That morning before we left the house, Sobeys called, Barker had won a Halloween Colouring contest! I went and picked it up for him, big Thank you to Aunt Krista for taking the time to enter in the contest... Mommy would have never remembered.

As we were out running errands, Remy kept saying Ohh Ahh Ahh Papa! Ohh Ahh Ahh Papa!! She wanted to show grandpa so bad! What were we to do except stop and see Grandpa. Pretty sure we made his day, his secretaries day's and Remy's day!

This kid was SOOO excited about the colouring contest! 2 of our other kids were super happy for him, one of our kids, not so happy for him.

After a quick dinner of cereal, we got ready for trick or treating :) Justin even helped me convince Remy to wear the gum ball costume, thanks Just!! It only took me like 6 hours of glueing and a ton of fluff balls, I was really hoping she would wear it- I just wanted my baby for one more Halloween. Next year she can choose. Maybe :) Barker wanted scratches on his face from the robbers, and he was so thrilled with the result. He was so exact, he wanted to be a Police Officer. Not a cop, or swat or a police man. POLICE OFFICER. That kid. I love that kid.

Annaliesse wanted to be Red Ridding Hood. I made her costume, too. She gave me very intricate  instructions, she wanted a cape to close in the front, with ties, a hood and a basket. The basket was the most important part, turns out.  Kalia made a great Hermione- she was pretty bummed most of the kids at school didn't know who she was. I told her not to worry, adults would know who she was. SO if you see her.... please call her Hermione!

Aunt Laura come over before we left for Grandma and Grandpas- she brought the kids all a chocolate bar and to see the lovely costumes. Halloween is a full on family affair..

Grandma came over this morning to bring us some safety pins- and the kids showed Grandma the chant they wanted to do for Halloween-
Trick or Treat
Smell my feet
Give me something good to eat
Not to big
Not to small
Just the size of Montreal

I told them they needed to be polite and not shout that at people. I talked to mom later, and she says to let the kids say it at her house.

We have such a AMAZING Grandma. She is freaking hilarious. Love the Montreal sized treat Grandma!

2 hours with 4 kids....50/50 chance we never need to buy chips again.

4 for 4

Welcome Home Mommy and Daddy. Nothing says parenthood like 4 for 4 sick kids. Saturday and Sunday we dealt with barf, fevers, crying and general uncomfortable kids. No fun Halloween weekend for us. No church for us. No family dinner for us. Luckily its the end of the day and it seems like it was just a weekend thing. Wish us luck.

PD day

Last PD day it snowed and we didn't end up going into the Science centre, must to disappointment of my tiny army of humans.
This PD day the kids and I headed in first thing- we always go in the morning, cause at 10:30 am they do the creative kids craft. The girls LOVE the creative kids craft. Remy loves the water.

They weaved this am. Barker had a great time with the facilitator.  They worked together for about 30 minutes weaving cloth and yarn.

Of course glue guns are also a must do.

And towers.

Then came the clay creations and some animations.

After our morning at the science centre we had some lunch at Ikea- cause I didn't feel like paying money for food my kids won't eat.  We ended up seeing Kaly and her boys there- a great quick catch up while our kids messed around eating. Justin met us there, and we headed to the mall.

Kalia wanted to go to the mall to spend some of her Birthday money. So we hit up Claires and Justice. She spent some money and we dealt with the fact that she wanted to hang at the mall rather then do crafts with her Mommy.

The kids ended the day with Daddy and Pizza, I got to end the day going out to dinner with Jen and Dianne :) PD days rock.

Pumpkin Carving 2016

We are back!! I would have loved to blog durning our trip to remember more details, but with the new update on the iphone, the blogger app wont work. So I will be back blogging for the next couple of days :)

2016 Pumpkin Carving will be one we remember for a long time.

Like most families we do youngest to oldest when working on a project. Remy stuck one finger in her pumpkin before declaring it was yucky and she didn't want to do it. Kalia jumped in and started gutting her pumpkin for her. Which is great, cause its not my fav thing to do, either. Annaliesse happened to get her pumpkin top cut off next, Barker was choosing a face and was fine to wait his turn.

Kalia and Annaliesse are now cleaning out the pumpkins, and of course being girls, "EW! This is so gross!!" All of a sudden Barker, who had just gotten his pumpkin, puts his hand in the pumpkin, dry heaves and then BARFS into his pumpkin and all over the table. The feeling was just to much for him. He was mortified. We all just looked at him for about 15 seconds. Then we all started laughing, except Barker, he was right mad we were laughing at him. We stopped laughing and I cleaned the barf. He continued to clean out the pumpkin, pausing once in a while to dry heave..

We got the pumpkins all cleaned out, I had to help Barker and Annaliesse finish, Kalia was a trooper and did all of hers and most of Remys, Barker and Remy chose a face off the internet and Daddy drew it on, and cut it out. Annaliesse wanted a Shopkins face... which was so not happening. She was right ticked. She almost got sent to her room for being such a poop about it. Finally she decided to do a Annaliesse original. She drew the face on and asked Daddy to cut it out exactly like she did it. I love that kid. She marches to the beat of her own drum!

Kalia went for a simple face and drew it on for Daddy to cut out too. Half way through cutting out Barkers pumpkin some friends stopped by so all the kids headed outside to play. Pausing every so often to come and and direct Daddy on cutting out their pumpkin. Justin and I didn't mind, we spent the time laughing about Barfer err Barker, cleaning the kitchen and making dinner.

We had stew and corn bread for dinner, and then watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame as a family. No piano, no home reading, no obligations... just us and the kids. Pumpkins, Stew, Barf, Movie, and a Smoothie.

It. was. perfect.

Last day, Church day.

Sunday.
Of course its sunday, so we headed to church for 9:30 sacrament. Lucky for us there was a English speaking area, so we were able to get some of the meeting. I say some, because a darling young Elder was translating for us, and he did his best to keep up with the French... In the end I ended up reading my scriptures and Justin tried really hard to stay awake.

After sacrament meeting we headed back to Notre Dame. I really really really wanted to hear the choir sing in the cathedral. All week I kept telling Justin I wanted to go back Sunday morning and hear the choir sing at mass. It was amazing. The choir, the organ the acoustics. It my second favorite part of the trip- we sat for a hour in total appreciation. Justin even enjoyed himself. It was spectacular.

That afternoon we took the subway and then walked a million flight of stairs up to the Basilica de Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre.
The view was soooo worth it.

After our pilgrimage to the highest building in all the land, we ended our Paris week with canal cruise.

Looking back we should have done that the first day, it showed us the lay of the land, way better then we had previously understood. It was raining hard by then, so it was nice to be indoors, yet outdoors.

We had a amazing week away celebrating our 10 year Anniversary.
Its been years... YEARS since we spent this much time together.
Lets not wait another 10 years to do this again, k Just!!

Saturday at Versailles

We didn't get to The Palace of Versailles until about noon- we had to trade hotels again, and figure out the train to Versailles. Which, by the way was very confusing. But we made it, thanks to a elderly French man who spoke a little English, and a couple of collage students who actually spoke English.

See this pano shot. Its the line up. The very very long line up. The hour and 20 minute line up. Thats ok, the line up went pretty quickly considering how long it was. We had time for lunch, while standing in line, and time to hike to the Bathroom. :) AND had a lovely chat with the couple in front of us who drove from Switzerland for the day.

It was a huge and opulent. It was so ridiculously ornate, and very apparent why the French Royalty lost their lives! At least to me.

Only one side of the palace was open for touring, the Kings side. The Queens side is a exact replica of the Kings side, so we didn't miss much.  The different coloured rooms were kind of cool- the wall paper wasn't really wall paper, it was more like carpet paper.

The doors were incrusted with gold, as were the windows and doors.

Fireplaces so big you could roast a cow whole.

Then we got to the Hall of Mirrors. So swanky.

Then the gardens. Oh the gardens. Talk about lavish!

There are 800 hectares of gardens. You can rent a golf cart to see more of it. A golf cart.

The lawns are meticulously manicured in the French Garden style. To make it even better, they have 1600's music pumping through a sound system, making you feel like a princess on her daily walk.

There are over 50 fountains with 35 km of piping. It has 3 canals running through it and 11 main fountains. The garden was stunning. The leaves were just starting to turn yellow, so the garden was mostly still green with a bit of yellow at the top of the trees.

The fountains all came on just before we finished touring the garden. Just Lovely. I am so glad we went to Versailles, we enjoyed the gardens more then the palace- but still glad we went.
