Remy Birthday Celebration

Our last day in Utah.
Today we celebrated Remy's Birthday- which is on August 25- but Daddy was still in Canada so we waited for him. We had planned on staying until Saturday but the weather was going to get to 42 degrees and we just can't roll with that.

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY to You Remy!
You were so excited today, we can't believe your SIX!

Today we headed to BYU and toured around a bit there. The kids thought it was amazing and by the time we left Barker was determined to play Lacrosse there- which I will by trying to help  him ASAP. After we headed to another pool with cousins for the afternoon. Provo Recreation Centre or something like that. It has amazing pool and lots of other fun things to do. We passed hours there like it was nothing.  Then off for dinner for Remy's Birthday and to get her Ears Pierced- the present she wanted most of all.

We got back to Aunt Karens with enough time to play outside with cousins one more night. To play with the new friends Barker made in the neighbourhood. To ride scooters and to play at the park. To have ice cream cones and visit one more time.

Mt Timpanogos!!

There were a few reasons Justin flew down for the last few days.
1. Hike to  Timpanogos Caves with the kids and I.
2. See old friends from his Mission
3. Drive the long drive home with me.

So Thursday we hiked to the caves.
Jen and I contemplated doing it in 2015 when we were together in Utah but we decided not to. Let me tell you- it was a freaking good idea. This hike was hot and  it goes 1,092 feet up in a mile and a half. The kids did amazing- and Justin of course was Justin, he takes everything in-stride. It was all totally worth it, for the view and the caves.

The kids did the Ranger Program, answering questions in the booklet and speaking to the rangers- it made their day that much more fun.

Inside the caves was so crazy fun to see. The temp inside was a welcome relief from the Utah heat and the sites were amazing. The only downside to the whole event was the very loud, inappropriate other visitors we had to go through the cave with. We tried our best to keep the kids occupied and their visit enjoyable even with the obnoxious others.

At the end of the hike and after the caves we asked the kids what has been their favourite memory from summer 2019. They couldn't decide between Hiawatha Trail or Timpanogos Cave.

THAT is why we do this- travel all over, spend time and money showing sites and doing random adventures whenever we have the chance.

Justin and I ended the night having dinner with Melissa. One of the people Justin got really close to on his mission- we met up with her and her family. Which includes exchange students and girlfriends and foreigners. It was a lovely dinner- and I have the cup to prove it.

Mid week at Tracy Aviary!

Today we took Grandma to the airport to head home- then back to the airport 6 hours later to pick up Justin! This was the day we met up with Megan and Aunt Karen Taylor and her kids to play. I asked Megan to come up with the plan, cause man it gets harder to decide what to do as the summer progresses. Megan had lots of great suggestions- we decided to do Tracy Aviary.

If you go to Salt Lake and have a day where your wavering on what to do- DO THIS.
It was so much fun.
We fed ducks!
Saw lots of different kinds of Owls.
Watched the most amazing interactive bird show.
Saw Flamingos

The bird show was so fun. SO FUN. As you walk in they warn you about moving around- they ask you to make sure small children stay in their seats and don't move to much.  It was clear why as we started- they had birds flying all around. Some walking in front of you. Some flying at your face and some right over your head. Meagan and I happened to sit in the best seats of the house and got some amusing photos to show it. Annaliesse got to hold a bird and she was flipping thrilled and so did meagan and I!!

After an amazing morning/some of the afternoon we did a super late lunch and then off to watch Megan and Kevins oldest play volleyball after school! Kalia loved watching, Barker had a massive headache and so I watched while plugging Barkers ears.Annaliesse and Remy were bored. Note to self next time we do a sporting event bring ear plugs for Barker. We left Volleyball to go pick up Daddy then met everyone for Aunt Karens Birthday Dinner at ChuckoRamma.

It was such a good day we made amazing memories.
