Spring Break - Downtown SL and Aunt Tammy's!

 

It was a late start this morning! We spent the morning driving around Justins old Mission haunts and picking things up fro Gygi and stuff for lunches. Barker found PRIME which was really all he wanted form this vacation- so that was good... and annoying at the same time. HAHA

Justin was so hilarious when we were driving around- "this is where my area started... a few blocks later, No this doesn't look familiar, Oh here! THIS is where it started- wait nope"... After this being said like 10 times he finally found it and we laughed at him the whole time. 

We did pull up to the Jordan River Temple where Justin spent many hours doing Temple work with his fellow missionaries- he likes to talk about how this Temple is a working temple. A picture in front while we retailed stories of his mission was what he wanted. 

Afternoon (after we found Barker some Prime- he's gonna want me to document that) we headed back to downtown SL and looked around. Did a few things in the conference centre we wanted to see closer. The LDS history building, and the tabernacle... it was a great morning. But highlight of the buildings was this game we found outside the children's exhibit. It was temples around the world, and you had to touch the area of the temple and you got points based on how close you were in the world. Kalia and I played like 10 times and then had Justin try- it was so fun with lots of laughs and learning. 

We headed to Aunt Tammys and Uncle Eric's to spend time with cousins and visit! We were lucky enough for Jacob and Tom and Lucy a tour of the farm when we got there. Lucky for Jacob- he knew most of the animals names and things about them, but it was Lucy who knew EVERY SINGLE name- sometimes helping Jacob come up with it- or correcting him when he wasn't even close LOL.

Once Eric and Tammy got home we headed out for some dinner at a local taco joint. The kids all sat at a table- and the adults got a little bit of alone time, catching up on family news and chatting! We sure do love the Parkers- we were so excited when they almost moved to Canada 8 years ago. But I guess our lot is to visit as much as possible and stay close from a distance. 

We got back to the house and Aunt Tammy took the kids riding in their arena. The cousins were of great help- pairing off with a horse and a Moxley. Helping them saddle and gear up- taking them for rides.  Justin and I rode for a few scant minutes- but spent most of the time visiting and laughing. Just enjoying family presence. 

Barker rode Lincoln. Annaliesse rode Mack. Remy rode Misty. And Kalia rode Apollo- which she wasn't super thrilled as Apollos listening skills that evening seemed to have left him all-together! LOL 

Another late night- AND another great day.

Spring Break Trip Day 1

 

We made it!

Drove all day and made it to Utah!

We left this morning at 6:08am and as we are pulling out of the house Barker says "my tooth hurts".

I turned around and said with emotion... no it does not.

Was I manifesting after the last vacation dental disaster? 

Yes. Yes I was.

Justin decided, after much discussion and back and forth, to come with us for the first 4 days. When I decided to take the kids somewhere for a trip he was not interested at all. Kept saying things about "having time to work on the house" and "I will have so much time to get things done." Then I went and bought tickets to a NBA Jazz game. Funny thing is- I bought them, forgot about it, and then mentioned it, weeks later. He was shook. Mostly shook because he has never been to a NBA game- and couldn't believe that I would take them without him! I had to buy 6 tickets so I told him to just come for a few days and then fly home. A week or so before we left- got him a ticket and he came with!! :)

The drive down was uneventful, thankfully. 

I read a book that I was enjoying- Nightingale. Kids had devices and Justin drove. Plus all the singing breaks and excited conversations about what we were doing. 

We pulled into Salt Lake at 6:30pm and the kids needed out and something to do. So we headed to the Conference Centre and did a tour there. It was really good- the kids did it in 2017 (I think) so they didn't really remember, there was lots to see and lots of walking- which was perfect. 

Kalia and Annaliesse really liked the big picture of Jesus- there is a selfie pic here of Kalia and Justin in front of it. I saw a painting titled "Certain Women" that I loved and someday want it hanging in my home.

We ended up eating super late- 8:30pm and there was starting to be some hanger happening in our family. We ate at Cafe Rio, of course, and then headed to Aunt Karens. Unfortunately, their house wasn't quite ready for us- we still stopped by and visited for an hour or so, saw the Airbnb and it looks great... anyways  we ended up at a hotel at 10:30pm. By this time the kids were pooped and ready for bed!
