Birds, Snow, Colouring and Careers

Wednesday afternoon as I picked up Remy and Ray from preschool, they came out with Mirella and they were all talking about a playdate. Now Remy is not always up for playdates, but she was right on board for a playdate. So Ray and Mirella came over for a few hours of play.

I assumed they would just play for the afternoon, but it turns out both girls had a hard time agreeing on roles in pretend play. Both were getting frustrated and at one time, one of them hid in frustration. We needed a change of play, so we put snow in the sink! All three were so excited, they stood at the sink and played for the reminder of the playdate.

After Mirella left we got out some. coloured water to continue play. Before long Ray left and the kids got home from school.

Lauren brought over her birds for us to babysit while they go on a vacation when she came and got Ray. When the kids got home from school they were sooo excited, its like they forgot we are just babysitting- NOT actual bird owners. Kalia is going to be doing all the work, earning a little bit of spending money from Lauren. Changing the birds water, newspapers and feeding them. Kalia and Annaliesse sat at the bird cage lots that first afternoon. PS Birds are LOUD.

We got out some new colouring pages to work on for the afternoon. Piano got done, colouring got done, dinner was made and eaten and we spilt ways.

I took the girls to Activity Days, got Annaliesse's gear ready for Water Polo and I headed to YW.

The girls learned about FHE in Activity Days, and played a few games. Lucky for me Bro Browning picked up Annaliesse with his daughter Sloan and took them to water polo for 7pm.

YW Wednesday evening was a Career Night, first we shadowed a Dentist, Dental hygienist and Dental Assistant. Where we got to watch Dr Bennett work on our RS President and give her a Root Canal. The girls were interested and were able to be very hands on, Dr Bennett let the girls get right in there and look at all the steps and even help with suctioning! He answered questions and talked us through the process. His assistant Verlaine was just as helpful, giving tips about her job and laughing and chatting with the girls.

After the Dental Clinic we headed over to the Hospital to have a tour by Dr Spackman. He walked us through the hospital and showed the girls all the different jobs available in a Hospital setting. From the Cleaning Staff to PA's, LPN's, RN's, Lab technicians, OT's, RT's, PT's, Dieticians,  OR staff, Doctors, X Ray, Ultra Sound and so on and so forth. The girls were a bit amazed at the professions the Health Field offers. In fact one of the girls said she wanted to work in the Hospital by the end of our awesome tour. Thanks Dr Spackman for taking the time to walk us through and talk to the girls a bit about lots and lots of careers. Since we started doing Career Nights 1 1/2 years half ago the girls have been exposed to lots of Career paths available to them :)

Happy 100th Birthday Grandma!

Grandma Selman turned 100 this month!

Happy 100th Birthday Grandma

How lucky is the Selman family to have such a wonderful woman around for a decade. Almost her entire posterity came to Raymond this last weekend to celebrate her big day.

Justin, the kids and I headed down to Raymond Friday afternoon for Grandmas open house at Good Sam's. We left durning day light luckily, the roads were terrible, we had a good drive down and the kids were excited about spending the night in a hotel with a swimming pool.

The first couple pictures are thanks to Remy, she took many pictures at the Open House- its a good thing. Justin and I were busy visiting his cousins we only see every 8 years or so!

We stayed in the same Hotel as Karla and Cyril and their kids. The road back to Lethbridge from Raymond were some of the worst we have driven on in 12 years. Good thing Justin drove! The kids swam for a hour before bed and fell asleep rather quickly. The adults had a great time visiting till midnight- thats the great thing about family time.

Saturday we spent the day at the church celebrating Grandma! So many cousins to visit with and so many kids running around playing. Grandma Moxley and her sisters put an amazing effort into this special day. The decorations were beautiful, the displays were lovely and the paid photographer to capture the day was great. Once I get access to the pictures I will add some to the blog!

Remy spent her day, as she says, "getting names", she grabbed a little pad and pen from in the hotel room and decided she was going to get everyones names. It was so darling. She walked around asking people to "write yours name peeas". She got 4 pages of names and was just delighted about the whole thing. Thanks to Carrie who helped her get a few from the older generation (Uncle Gary and Luwanna) as she was to shy to ask for herself.

Here are some of the photos done by the photographer.

Snapshots

Skiing twice in one week was exhausting for this baby of ours.

Been missing having a baby on my hip this week.... and my pink hair!

Young Women's this week- delivering cookies and a smile to some seniors in our ward.

Sometimes you just have to pin down your kids to kiss them all over.

Stickers are such a fun and easy thing to keep Remy busy. She made 2 princesses with magic wands and a unicorn each.

Another Ski Day this week

Wednesday we headed back to the Ski Hill!
Can we not spend twice a week at the Ski Hill every month!! We had such a great day again, Lauren and her kids joined us for the day and the kids got on so well.

Remy and Ray are the best of friends even on the Ski Hill. They spent sometime going down the bunny hill together- then off to the Bronze Chair with Mom and Dad, Aunt Laura, and Kalia. Barker and Ollie were already gone on the Sliver Chair and Annaliesse and Bailey were already at the Bronze chair.

Annaliesse and Bailey spent the day together- they both ski slow and careful. Not needing to be silly or race or do jumps, we hardly saw them! If we did see them they were laughing and having a great time.

Its a bit of a hike down to the Bronze chair but its such a great beginner run.

Remy and Ray both skied down it without a harness. Ray needed help the first couple times but by the end of the day he did it himself!

Here is Lauren helping him down the first time.

Remy did fantastic. Seriously- she didn't go on the harness once the whole day. We have some amazing clips of her going down the Silver chair run by herself like a little pro.

The 2 littles were done about 2:30- but they both skied more today then they have EVER.

Auntie Laura came with us today and it was so fun to have her. She has just started snowboarding and still learning- she snowboarded down a bank and into the trees. Luckily she has a awesome BIL who will take a pic while laughing and pull her out with his brute strength.

Barker and Ollie had a grand ol' time with each other. They ski at the same level- but luckily Ollie has some sort of self preservation. They had raced and jumped and skied through the trees together. Later in the afternoon Justin took Barker (on his snowboard) and Remy up the Sliver chair- Barker got going rather fast and ran into a snow fence. Justin thought for sure he broke something or seriously hurt him self- he crashed a mighty crash, but popped up like something out of TRON and shook it off. He did break his snowboard bindings and GO PRO helmet attachment.

Kalia snowboarded for the day and is enjoying learning the board better. Hopefully in the next year or so she can learn how to carve. Laura and Kalia spent lots of the day together and enjoying spending time.
