A LEGO mood

Lego sorta took over our house for some of September. As we played and spread out, made messes, built and sorted it was EVERYWHERE. Noting but fond times for most if us. Justin only got annoyed when their was no space to sit at the Dinning Room table to eat his dinner- once I cleared a sliver of space for him to eat his Supper, he was good LOL. Barker and Remy were the ones who were onboard- along with Mommy. Annaliesse joined lots- Kalia is a teenagers these days. But she did join in on the new Harry Potter set!

Part of the reason- I found a great deal on some bins on Amazon to store our LEGO sets. I order 1 set of 10 and quickly realized we were going to need more. I set up each LEGO set before I put it in the new bin, to make sure we had all the pieces. Remy thought that was an amazing IDEA as she played every day after school with a new set it seemed like!

See the few houses around the Railroad Track? By the time I got them built there were 5 more buildings there. Once I got most of the big sets built- I was ready for a new set... haha. I convinced Justin on our Anniversary date to get me a new set from the LEGO store- he was fine with it. For dinner that night we went to Mugshots with friends for Wings- friends I LOVE seeing and eating wings with. Yet all I could think about was my LEGO set in the car. Its fine guys- I am an adult and I know adulting comes first.

Next day I got the kids off to school and started on my new set! BAHAHAHA. The kids were so mad- so I promised a building for Annaliesse and Barker to do, Remy helped me. Then Grandma wanted to come over and play too- so Grandma came over around 10am and we played LEGO till the kids got home, and they helped for a bit. At that point Kalia finally decided to join- but we only had one more building to do- so I finished it, took it apart and she built it again. This new set really needed attention or it is super easy to miss a step and mess up later. But we sure had fun.

FLASHBACK.

Grandma helped her sister and son move earlier this month. My Aunts son (James) was a huge LEGO fan, but is now a senior in High School and grown out of much of his LEGO, and didn't want it any more . Grandma took it home with her intending to play with it herself, but it was to overwhelming- and she does just PLAY LEGO like my youngest three. Grandma likes to build sets and have things meticulously organized. This LEGO from James was not organized in the slightest, so she decided to bring it over to our house to play with the 2 youngest. Grandma was babysitting as I had the older at a Church function. Barker and Remy had a blast with it- it is all big boy LEGO for the most part- lots of which we have nothing like that.

Grandma gifted us the huge chest of LEGO and it has been awesome. It isn't in sets or anything- but so much of it is new and different then ours- so its super fun. Hours and hours it was on the living room carpet being playing with. September 2020 has been deemed LEGO PALUSA.

Extra Days with Remy

Noodle Arm had a few more days at home with Mommy. The ulcers are gone by Tuesday with a Dentist appointment on Wednesday cutting the extra gums away. Durning the days we played Lego, Cards, scooter rides and errands.

I loved every extra minute.

Justin replaced his brakes after work one day. He ordered his brakes on Amazon and put them in with the help of Youtube. Cause that's how he rolls.

He also put a plug in for our Anniversary present that hangs in the back hall. I didn't know this was possible, but thanks to Grandpa for causally mentioning it to Justin in front of me- that's the way we went!
LOL

Finishing Up Summer

Making the most of this Labor Day Weekend!
Starting the day off with garage cleaning, errand running and Kalia driving in the church parking lot.
I made her backup with no backup camera- you can imagine how well that went 😂

21 years ago I was 14 and learning how to drive. Ok I typed that and threw up a little in my mouth. Am I that old? Was it really that long ago? Yes. Yes I am and yes it was. My mom mostly taught me how to drive, although I remember her saying quite a few times, that she didn't have the patients for it, so Dad was going to teach me. Dad did drive with me a bit, but he was usually working, so the task fell on Mom. Driving around little old Cardston with road ways almost 3 times wider normal roads. Driving down gravel roads, learning how to not go in the ditch and learning how to park in a wide open parking lot of the local IGA. I also remember driving once with my Grandma Martin, and her saying "You are an excellent driver!" Admittedly that TOTALLY went to my head and for YEARS I told myself this statement often. FYI it may have been true for that ONE time I drove with my Gma- but it really wasn't generally true.

Kalia did pretty good her first time- with Mommy being more level headed then Dad. At least I am telling myself that. LOL

Everyone has those things that seem to multiply in the garage/dryer/tupperwear drawer.. for us its soccer balls. I swear we owned like 15 or so- Justin tossed a whole bunch in the Purge, first they cut a few in half to play with. Which of course he would- he is still a boy at heart.

After our morning of getting stuff done, we headed back to the river for another river walk. This time with the girls and Grandpa. We went to the starting point where we tube down the river, looking for more treasures! Deciding that the person who finds the coolest thing wins. Who do you think won??

ME! Don't worry everyone was just as surprised as you are now. We found another couple water shoes, and destroyed floats, the winner? Glasses. Thats right- I found a pair of glasses. The kids were all jealous to. Justin and Grandpa were just floored- repeating, How did you see those??

Anyways.

After our water walk- we went to Hogg Park- meeting Mark and Arlie, and Laura. Apparently the whole world decided to go to Hogg Park on the last hot day of the summer too. It was CRAZY packed. We sat in a terrible spot- then moved to a better, slightly more in the way spot, but no one walking through us, at that point. The kids all jumped, and Grandpa and Justin.

See where you walk across the river to get to the cliff? It is hella slippery. Like S.L.I.C.K It was rather hilarious to watch Gpa and Justin walk across holding Remy's hand and what not.

We also watched the kids tube down from upstream. Arlie play in the water with Dad. Barker getting bit by a snake and enjoying our slurrpies. A great ending of summer or start of a school year! :)

Monday was most excellent to- but unfortunately I only took 1 picture. We hung out with the Moxley's on Monday at Sheilyns house playing cards (skull king), some of us building fantasy football teams, eating subs and laughing.

We call the 3 littles The Three Musketeers- they love playing with each other and are so fun to watch.
I hope they remember their Uncles and Aunts playing with them- cause they do, its part of our Family. I am less then stellar at taking pictures when we are at big family things just being at a house, with Justins family and my family. So take this one pic and believe me when I say we had a excellent day.

Remy Mouth, Hairs, Garden and Water walk- AKA All. The. Things.

Today, Friday, we did ALL the things.
The first thing- drugging Remy with Advil and Tylonal. Mouth Ulcers are the WORST. Poor kid, lucky the meds do work- but it is super uncomfortable and painful. She hardly ate, and was fevered off and on. Poor kids

Kalia wanted to get her hair streaked for her Birthday! I was reluctant at first, but in reality it is just for her Birthday, not doing it again, and its just dye. I used to do it- with a box and it looked terrible.. PLUS the guess work of getting her a present was taken care of :) So we took time Friday morning to get it done before she was in school full time- I can't justify taking her out of school to get her hair dyed.

We went to Kacy to get it done and it turned out amazing. Hanging out in the hair chair for a few hours chilling while we visited. It was a lovely break with less kids! As the hours went by and then a couple days I regretted giving in.. She looks waaaay grown up with it. So Kalia- could you stop growing. Becoming a teen is not something I was mentally prepared for...

Remy has been doing lots of things to keep herself busy Friday the kids were outside playing and she was coming off tylonal and waiting for the Advil to kick in. We turned on YouTube and did some drawing together and she wanted pics to show Daddy!

We harvested the Garden before dinner- Remy and I. If you have been reading my blog for a bit- you may realize gardening isn't exactly my strong suit. Lets not kid ourselves, no one reads this for advice of any sort. You read it cause A) your family and feel obliged to read it. B) an old friend who can't get over this is what Heather grew up to be C) your nosy D) you find my ramblings, sewings, or children slightly amusing.

The small amount of potatoes was staggeringly pitiful. Like it was one meal. ONE MEAL. We have a family of 6 people- my gardening skills are not going to save us if the Zombies come and we have to survive off the land. Seriously. We may be warm with the quilts in the house, but we will starve- if all we have is our garden.

The girls both had plans this Friday evening- babysitting or hanging with friends. Cant remember now, but was sooo nice outside, Justin and I had to take the littles out. We decided to head to the river- Remy and I were just going to watch, but once we got our feet wet- it just felt sooo good.

Justin and Barker swam/walked across the river first and Remy and I wadded around. It was so warm and shallow we decided to walk down the river for a bit. We parked at George Lane and walked down to the river at the little beach area there to enter. We put our shoes on and sweaters/towels in the backpack and walked in the river down to the bridge by Sobeys. Looking for treasures along the way! Finding water shoes, golf balls, cool rocks and things. There were a few spots that were deeper then Remy and I were ready for- so soon we were wet up to our thighs.

Remy and I were just in shorts and T-shirts, but it was warm enough to just go with the flow. Guys- it was such a simple thing, simple activity for the evening- but we had so much fun. The calm night, warm water, laughing as we got deeper, the excitement chattering about finding "super cool" things, and the constant giggling.

If you have a chance to do this with your kids- I highly recommend it. Friday was a pretty excellent day.

First Days

This week the kids had a staggered start to school.
It wasn't ideal to have 1 kid in school at a time- the waking up for 1, making 1 lunch- and then keeping 3 kids busy at home cause we have to be home.

Poor Remy didn't get to participate in her first day of school- her first 4 days of school actually. Down and out having her 6 year molars come in. Well at least that's what we thought it was. Turns out it was ulcers in her mouth AND Operculitis- we found that out on Wednesday of this week. Thanks to a friend who we messaged Wednesday night when things got waaaay worse then they were Sat-Tue.

Barker went first on Tuesday for the day- he is in Mrs King Grade 4 class. We are both excited for his teacher, she is amazing and Barker is going to rock this year. His BIGGEST hang up with social distancing and Covid measures, is no soccer at recess. This is a big deal to my Grade 4 son. It was hard dropping him off at school- not walking him into his classroom, or even into his school. We were asked to just drop off- but we managed.

Annaliesse went Wednesday AND Thursday. She's in the middle of middle school right now- and loves school. She is thrilled to be in her best friends class, and ready for class. This kid is resilient- like she is the BOMB. Things can get hard, and be difficult but she takes it in stride. She might be sad and have a rough day, but the next day she is ready for life again. She is going to kick Grade 7's butt.

Kalia went Thursday for Grade 8- only 1 day for her this week. As she continually rubbed it in Annaliesse's face. Kalia you are in your last year of middle school, and ready for what life has in store this year. Its going to be great, cause your going to make it great.
