Toilet Roll Trolls

We did some crafting Tuesday. I worked on a craft night demo and Remy worked on turning some toilet paper rolls into Trolls. Barker was also in on the painting but he is a boy and grew tired of the crafting quickly.

I got my demo done and Barker moved on to play outside. Remy just kept on painting. Very very carefully painting.

I had to move on to other things, she just kept painting.

Girls got home and she was just about finished... almost 2 hours later. There was paint every where!!! But she was so happy about it.. Paint on her toes, the chair, the counter and the floor.
She took a little break after that, she needed a snack.

Also want to know how I learned she can wash her hands on her own?!?! See below pic! IF she can wash her foot and both hands at the same time she can wash her hands!!

After her little rest she sorted feathers by colour and eyes by colour and we added hair and eyes. She is so proud of her little project!

Saturday/Sunday Moxleys

Sometime I don't blog things because they seem so mundane. Or because its not anything different then any other time.  Im gonna try and blog the mundane anyways... its mundane to me.
But maybe not to the kids in a few years.

Saturday we got together with the Uncle Cyril and Aunt Karla and kids and Aunt Sherilyn and kids, and Grandma. Justin and the kids met them all at the church to spend a afternoon playing sports. Lacrosse and Basketball. The three youngest spent time with Mateya who is such a amazing niece. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate her and Jaidyn. They are such good girls who play with little cousins.

I showed up late, I was helping at soccer registration for the afternoon. I managed to get to the church for just the end of the afternoon. As were were sitting around the stage chatting, we noted how nice it was that they are getting old enough to play sports and interact with the adults! We all headed over to our house for a BBQ dinner. BYOB. Nothing like a family dinner to end a busy Saturday. Chill dinner and great company. Thanks guys!

Sunday was Moxley Family Dinner Day to! After church we headed into the city for another great dinner with family. We do this once a month now, usually the second Sunday. Grandma Moxley decided last Summer that we were going to start monthly dinners and it has been awesome every month. This month we were lucky to have Uncle Jeff and Marion and Cassandra join us for dinner!

A rocking dinner of Lasagne, made 3 by three different peoples- great fun to taste them all and blab about who's is better :) The kids were particularly crazy this week. Lots of screaming and wrestling.

Karla made cupcakes with the fabulous icing that we have put into circulation in the last couple years. I can't recall when exactly I started making it- but Karla and I use it often :)
It is the yummiest easiest non-icing icing you will ever make.

NON-ICING ICING
1 container Cool Whip
1 pkg (4 serving) vanilla pudding OR chocolate pudding for chocolate icing
1 cup milk

Mix pudding and milk. Fold in cool whip. Put in Large Freezer bag. Cool in fridge. Pipe on top of cupcakes. Serve immediately- do not ICE until ready to eat!

This icing is a total hit. You should try it and tell me if you liked it.

Stitches

We, I use the term loosely, as I was mostly hiding in my room folding laundry, were putting the kids to bed last night. The girls were suppose to be downstairs brushing their teeth and getting PJ's on, as we were doing with the little two.

All of a sudden Kalia comes running up stairs screaming- blood dripping out of her cupped hands.
We stop the bleeding and Justin took a gander... it for sure needed stitches. Kalia and Annaliesse were downstairs crafting.. using my craft scissors to cut out hearts.

They were out the door in minutes. I finished putting the kids to bed and folded laundry while waiting for word on Kalia.

Luckily the ER was pretty dead. They were in and out in about a hour. Three stitches, they tried for four but the last one ripped out. Justin said she was super brave.

Pretty sure she wont touch my sharp scissors again.

THEN.. less then 24 hours later Justin called me from work after he got 2 stitches of his own
He almost cut the tip of his thumb off again!! Same thumb- other side, at work. With his exact-o knife.

Good Grief. What a week.

Alphabet Recognition

When you put your first kid in Kindergarden- you are a excited parent ready to help teach your children how to learn. First kid learns letters pretty dang fast.

When you put your second kid in Kindergarden a year later you are still excitedish for learning. Your First grader is now doing home reading, your already in the routine for after school reading and such, so doing letters isn't a big thing.

When your older 2 are in Grade 3 and 4 they can read and read without help. Now you have a Kindergardener again and another one still at home. A million other things going on and remembering to do Alphabet Recognition gets pushed aside. We are buckling down again. Turns out he learns with treat bribes. It has been 2 days and he has learned 6 more letters with the snacks. Wish us luck.

Downhill

It all started going downhill Tuesday at 4:30pm.
Barker spent the afternoon at a friends house and when I went to pick him up he barfed all over the front lawn.. crying about how his head hurt.
I loaded him up, made a stop for some wood- he was asleep seconds after I started driving again.

He slept again at home, while I was trying to get dinner ready, then didn't eat a thing. Didn't play with or talk to the missionaries like usual, wanted to be held constantly. Grandma had come over for dinner and after she was done she held Barker for a while.. which was so so helpful. We knew then that it was highly doubtful he would well enough to go skiing. Justin and I agreed to see how the night went... turns out not well.

Justin left with the older 2 at about 6:40 am for a day of skiing. Mommy stayed home and cleaned up barf every 20 mins for the entire morning. Barker finally slept for a bit and that seemed to help.

I am so grateful for a husband who is a great father and loves to spend time with his girls. Justin said they spent almost the whole day skiing together. He took the girls on a few Blue runs this time. He is so impressed with how well they are coming along.  I am also grateful for Remy being perfectly happy playing the day away instead of skiing.

In between Barkers barfing and cleaning- I was able to put the finishing touches on Annaliesse's owl hat she asked for. The flu lasted only 24 hours, he was so tired and unhappy. I for one am so happy that it was a short lasting flu and no one else (yet) has gotten it.

Few things about Sunday

  • Remy gave her first talk in Primary. She said every three words. In the middle of her talk her Bestie Ray shouts, I cant understand her!! BAHAHAHA I love this age

  • The best comment in Sunday School!! A Brother was reading a quote about husbands and wives. He is reading along and then goes- "We brethren don't need this quote." He says that total dead pan. Mom encourages him to read it anyways... the quote goes on to say how husbands should cherish their wives and such. IT WAS HILARIOUS. I guess it was a half to be there thing!

  • Barker split his knee deep DEEP at Mom's and Dad's right before we left for the night
  • Justin asked me to make chocolate chip cookies so I did. I get to the scooping part and can't find my cookie scoop ANYWHERE. After looking for 10 mins I called the kids up... Barker says to Justin. "I threw it in the garbage." Apparently he was under the impression I told him to toss it out. One of me FAVOURITE kitchen tools. HE TOSSED IT. This mommy was so not impressed. SO NOT IMPRESSED.
