On the Second Day of Christmas

On the second Day of Christmas…. 

Sunday December 2nd!

 We opened My First Story of the First Christmas after church. This is the first Christmas Story we bought for K 4 years ago! Its such a great read to remind the kids what Christmas is really about.

       

 Sunday after naps we decorated the Christmas Tree and then went toThe First Presidency Christmas Devotional! Justin had to head back to work, but Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Laura helped with the kids. Then Grandpa took them home so I could sing in the Stake Choir Festival after!

At the devotional we ended up sitting with a lovely senior couple who became…. well associated with us and our crazies. Brother played leaning against his legs, K leaned against him as she colored… they dropped their pencils all around them-- for some reason the kids just payed them the same attention they would Great Grandpa and Grandma. By the end of the evening we sat and chatted with them for 1/2 hour and made another set of surrogate grandparents!  

President Monson gave a great address on the The Special Meaning of Christmas: The real joy of Christmas is found from making the Savior Jesus Christ the focus of the season, President Monson affirmed. “We can keep Him in our thoughts and in our lives as we go about the work He would have us perform here on earth.”

President Monson concluded his talk with this wish: “May we, as did the Wise Men, seek a bright, particular star to guide us to our Christmas opportunity in service to our fellow man. May we all make the journey to Bethlehem in spirit, taking with us a tender, caring heart as our gift to the Savior, and may one and all have a joy-filled Christmas.”

Such a special message. I know that he is a Prophet of the Lord and I echo his wish: I want my kids to have a wonderful Christmas full of memories of service and to remember the birth of our Savior.

Day 1!!

YA Its the First Day of Christmas!!


We opened The Polar Express today.

The first day of December was crazy busy here, Uncle Mark moved out, the storage room was moved into the basement, we did the Festival of Crafts AND Mom and Daddy squeezed in a double date with Aunt Karla and Uncle Cyril!

It was so crazy we opened the story during lunch time… can you tell?

Holy Moly.

Grandma and Grandpa watched the kids for us. We saw Twilight and the kids saw The Polar Express!

Shockingly enough A was scared. :S
K seemed like she enjoyed it and Brother sat around and chewed on a Barbie and popsicle sticks.

Why Pink Hair?

This is to my little girls, who some day will read these blog books I devote time to, and will wonder "What on earth was she thinking??"

I have personality.

I like loud music so I can sing along, but usually we have the DVD player going in the van for the kids.

I like long hot showers, but I shower as quick as I can- hoping no one is killing anyone while I am not looking.

I like to be silly, but sometimes I am just to tired to be silly.

This list can go on and on. I became a Mother. It is my calling in life- THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. THE BEST THING I EVER WILL DO.

I want to devote my whole self to my little ones while they are little. I want to color, craft, play barbies, blow bubbles on your tummy, leave the sink full of dishes to play cars, and spend my days cleaning up after you so you can play some more.

My life is fantastic being a mother.

BUT I am also Heather. I am also a wife.

I felt like for a while there, Mommy Heather was all there was.

My PINK hair is here because

A) I LIKE it.

B) I am my own person. Mom Heather is a huge part of it, but person Heather is still around- and she has SPUNK.

Mini Ritz Snack

I can't remember where I got this recipe… I think from someone in Raymond 5th ward.

Well its fantastic!

Mini Ritz Snack
2 Boxes Mini Ritz Crackers
1 cup veg Oil
1/2 tsp Dill Weed
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Lemon Pepper
1 Envelope Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
4 cups Crispix
4 cups Mini Pretzels

Put Crackers, Crispix and Pretzels in a large bowl. Set aside. Whisk together oil, spices and ranch dressing. Pour Oil mixture over crackers. Put in Brown paper bag to absorb excess oil. Store in jar or zip lock bags. May want to freeze to keep fresh!

I halved the recipe- I find a whole batch is to much for the kids and I.
