The girls had a blast. I looked all over High River for some great puddles, but to be honest we didn't see a whole many.

So we made do with one in a parking lot by our house, and a ditch along the road.
No matter. The girls had just as much fun in the ditch as they would have anywhere else.

They were in such a hurry Mommy could only find 2 right GumBoots. Ya, I sacrifice.

A fell about a dozen times, K a couple times. Oh well, luckily we went at like 6:00 pm and it was +12, So it wasn't too too chilly.

My favorite part was the amount of water the girls poured OUT of their GumBoots!

Mommy had a Shoe and Bcharmed Party here. I may or may have snagged those fabulous turquoise wedges in the back, and a pair each of the hot pink and green flats!!

A was so excited for my pink shoes that she put them on my feet while I was still in bed the next morning. A says "so you can wear em soon you get up"!

Little girly girls are the best!

Enjoying the little bit of Sunshine we finally got this week.

This dude is really starting to walk. He will start standing and walk until he falls, then he will crawl to something to pull himself up and start again. He is also sleeping almost through the night!!

We did stuff

Sometimes snappy titles require too much thought.

This weeks craft time has kept the girls pretty busy.

When is craft time? We do a craft or activity after naps. Morning time is all about free play, then lunch, preschool for K and naps for the other 2. So craft time starts at 3 and goes till 4:30 or 5. I find this works the best because the kids are starting to get cranky and bored. If we are doing a craft I get them started usually after a bit I can start on dinner. When we do activity, dinner is usually late- but thats the way the cookie crumbles.. Anyways it works for us.

Baking Soda and Vinegar was a huge hit. 

After the Baking Soda, A wanted to help wash up- that kept her busy for another 45 minutes.

The next day beads kept K busy while I made dinner. This craft is usually a hit but A wasn't feeling it, she didn't participate at all, instead she watched and ate a cinnamon bun.

My last post on Mister Sir Sir- is radically outdated!

I have stopped Nursing. (I cant believe I just typed Nursing in public! Quick Justin look away! :)


It came to a point, I realized that nursing him 6 plus times a night had to stop. He wouldn't nurse and sleep, so Mommy had to make the decision for him.

By some small miracle he took a bottle for the first time Thursday afternoon. I jumped all over that band wagon and stopped right then.

Friday and Saturday were horrible. Days and nights were crappy (not really a strong enough word but this is a family blog)  for me and brother. Painfully crappy, but he adjusted faster then I did!  But things are looking up! Sunday night he only woke up twice!!! He whimpered and fussed at 10:00 for about 10 mins, then he was up at 2:30 for 5 minutes… My sleeping is all messed up. I kept waking up expecting him to be wanting to eat.

Wanna know something hilarious. When we were in Utah Brother found this toy pink bottle that he loved playing with. He would suck on the tip and he even drank a little milk out it. Once. So our friends said take it with you. After that once he wouldn't do it again till this last Thursday. NOW the only bottle he will drink from is this pink toy bottle! Ha ha ha!!

Giving up his cuddle and personal all to Mommy time has been hard for me, but he needs to learn to sleep. For Mommy giving up nursing is- painful but soon that too shall pass.

I really enjoyed nursing this baby for 11 months- my longest for all three of my babies. I love you Baby Brother!

RUFFLES!

Little girls…. Ruffles…. they belong together!

Last week a sewing bug bit me, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. In comes rufflefabric.com I chose the HOT PINK ruffles and the white ruffles.

It got here Friday and as soon as I got in in the mail I started! In fact we ate dinner super late Friday, sorry family! :)

I got the tutorial from Me Sew Crazy.

It was simple but delicate work. You have to cut it very very carefully. Ruffles need to be flat, but the fabric stretches so its moving constantly. It is very easy to accidentally cut a ruffle that you need!

When you put right sides together to sew up the shoulder and side seams, pin like crazy!! Keep those ruffles lined up and out of the seam!

There are tons of great tutorials out there so just pick one.  But here is my 2 cents. Most of the tutorials are for skirts, because to finish the neck and sleeves is difficult, or it might just be cause I didn't like the way the others looked…  HOWEVER we solved the problem.

Thank you hot pink cord. I took the cord and pinned it right sides together (around the neck and sleeves) then sewed, then flipped it and top stitched.

Ta Da finished! Both dresses took me a couple hours, the longest part was finishing the sleeves and neck- and Grandma helped with that! I am so lucky to have my mom here to sew with me. She is UBER talented, she made my wedding dress and grad dress, and she can fix any mistake I make, faster then it took me to make it! She came up with the cord idea, cause she is just that good. Hopefully one day I can sew half as good as her!

I also left the dresses long so they would last longer- the pattern I used had plenty of growth room in the neck and sleeves, so this dress should fit for a while! Once I finished the dress, I am annoyed the ruffles snagged easily. But they are soo cute.

Two dresses, size 4 and 5, I used 2 yards of fabric, 3 meters of hot pink cording, then of course thread.
Cost- $40 ruffle fabric (including shipping), $3.50 for the hot pink cord and thread.
 But after 2 dresses I still have enough left for 2 matching skirts for the girls!

Tell you what. All those of you who hinted that you want one for your girls- buy your materials, call me up, bring your stuff and we will make it together. Serious I would love to sew with a friend!
