Thursday

So, if you look back at my Monday post you see Barker fell asleep on me Monday after school? He also had a rough afternoon Tuesday and Wednesday he was fevered and grumpy so we kept up with Tylonal and Advil all day while skiing. By Thursday morning his little body was done. He was fevered and coughing like crazy. He spent the whole day laying around whimpering or napping poor guy.

I would have much rather stayed home and spent the day whimpering too, but Children's Choir is Thursdays and I had craft night too.

The kids were pretty good at Choir tonight. The week before was insane, but they are learning the songs for festival and doing rather well.


February Craft Night was making Dream Catchers. It was a really small group but thats ok. Everyone got one made, and was happy with their efforts, also I am SOOOO not a night owl like some of them!! So glad I get to spend time with these awesome ladies.

February Ski Day

Norquay on Wednesday!

Look at this ridiculous pile of stuff we packed.

Coats, Snow pants, Gloves, Helmets, Skis, Ski Boots, Goggles, Swimsuits, Towels, Poles and of course Lunch & Snacks. Packing for a family of 6 to go Skiing and Hot Tubbing for the day is insane.

Such a good day on the Mountain. It was really really cold at the beginning of the day. Like -26 with a wind chill of -36. COLD. Luckily it warmed up by about 11. 

Almost the entire Moxley family came! We were missing 6 out of 38! 

This family is a skiing family and almost everyone is crazy talented at Skiing.

I do not include myself in this assessment.

 My children, yes, they are amazing. 

Nieces and Nephews amazing.

SIL and BIL and MIL and FIL amazing.

Justin, well he is the BOMB.COM. (but I may be biased)

Aunt Krista decided she wanted to go see the view from the North Star (or something) Lift and soon lots of the kids wanted to join her. Grandma and Grandpa went with too, and Jeff took the 2 little nonskiiers too. The view looks dope.

I should have gone.. but after my second time skiing, my feet were sore. Well not really my feet, more so my thighs and abs.

Kalia was so excited to have more cousins to ski with!

It was so great to see the Hardy's- they live in Raymond and don't get up much. I love the Hardy's, Kim is a amazing SIL, I will be forever grateful for the 5 years we spent in Raymond being close to them and getting to know them. Kim is such a great example of patience, grace and love.

Justin, James and Sherliyn ended the day on a double black diamond. These guys are crazy.

After our day of skiing we all headed to the Upper Banff Hot Springs to end the day in relaxing hot water. Thanks to Mom Moxley for treating everyone! The kids had a great time getting ice from the edges of the hot tub and holding them on people. They would laugh and laugh- but got tired pretty quickly. Adults visited and enjoyed the scenery.

We lasted about a hour- until the kids were ready for bed, everyone was done around the same time. We got out the door about 7:30 then a quick stop for gas. The kids all had a snack and were asleep by 8:30

Baking/Nap

Monday morning is baking day!!

The two littles here helped me make Bread and Gingersnaps.

Holy Crap Mom Moxley's recipe makes a ton of Gingersnaps!!!!

I was on the 7th dozen and ready to quit- then it turned out that both these guys love Gingersnaps.

Which is great cause I thought Annaliesse was the only one who liked them- but Kalia, Annaliesse, Remy AND Daddy like them. Thank Heavens!! Chocolate Chip Cookies for weeks on end get a bit boring.. at least for me. Not them.

Barker had a terribly tough day at school Monday. Someone wore his snow pants at recess and that was a big deal. They found them after recess but he cried plenty and THEN he lost his glove right before he caught the bus home. I briefly spoke to Mrs. Mercer (his teacher) Tuesday morning and Barker spent lots of Monday at school crying about this or that. So he got home Monday in tears. He cried all the way home from the bus stop and by the time I helped him out of his snow gear he was a exhausted pile of little boy. He fell asleep less then 10 minutes after he got home, on my lap. He slept for a hour. Poor little gaffer.

*Added later We just found the lost glove. It was inside the right leg of his snow pants. He is delighted... it may seem like not a big deal, but this kids only wears certain articles of clothing. He has some sort of issue with clothing he likes and if he is willing to wear. Gloves is the same thing, I mentioned he would have to borrow a pair to go skiing on Wednesday and he was tears. This Momma is happy we found it.

Girls Closet

Friday I woke up with, what I thought, a brilliant plan. The girls had cleaned their room a few days ago, and I had just finished folding and had time to put away three loads of their laundry.

Now the girls have been asking for Months for us to rearrange their closet and take their dresser out of the room so they had more space. Justin and I had been telling them, yes when we get to it. I figured that time was now.

So Friday morning Dad came over to help me find Justin's drill in the garage on his way to work. I smoothly took off the girls closet doors and carried them to the garage. Then removed all the drawers to the girls dresser and attempted to move the dresser into the closet. Here is where it got tricky. The dresser didn't quite fit, the smaller rode on the bottom part of their closet needed to be trimmed like 6 inches. Quick call to Justin to ask a hypothetical question... "If one was cutting a wire shelf what would one use??" He said a hacksaw and something else.. I choose hacksaw. The other thing flew metal sparks, and I had Blake and Remy and Barker. He warned me a hand held Hacksaw was hard to use. But I figured the shelf would hold firm to the wall while I sawed. Twas not the case... also turns out the hacksaw is hard to use AND gets tangled... Now I have a few holds in the wall and a saw tangled in a wire shelf.

I wondered if I could fix it myself... but pretty sure I already in trouble. So I did what all girls do... called Dad cause he closest and could possibly come by and help on lunch hour. He did swing by... while a few friends and 5 more kids were over making donuts. He got the saw untangled and finished cutting the shelf... but I was worried about hanging back up without help because of studs and stuff. ALSO at this point Barker broke part of the disassembled dresser...

So that midmorning and early afternoon I had some friends over to make Donuts. Old Fashioned Doughnuts. Lauren brought fruit for the kids to snack on while we made the donuts and chatted.
They are were GREAT! Plus we were around friends ALL WEEK so why not end the week with a DougAte. Get it?? Doughnut Date.

So we waited for Justin to get home. And I was right he was not impressed with me.
But he fixed all... and after it was fixed I went through the girls clothing with them and got rid of a garbage bag full of clothing and tossed a ton that was stained or ruined.

It got done.... not in the way he wanted.. but its done now. Way less clothing and more room. Eventually we might hang a curtain up or something in front of there... but we shall see.

A Routine Blessed Life

Wednesday Morning I had a Young Women's meeting. I just have to say we have some super fun things going on these next couple months- the best part the girls planned it all we just sat down to finalize plans and calendar it. We are going to do a LiFe Hack Night every month. Teaching the girls how to do different things they will need later in life. Gonna be great.

After our meeting we headed over to Lauren's for her newest adventure. Waffle Wednesdays. Open to all the ward and friends. Everyone is invited over from 11-1 for chatting, kids playing and eating of some waffles. It was a good few hours of chatting and the kids always play great with friends. Waffles were great and we had a chance to visit with some ladies we normally would not see outside of church. Remy got a hair cut later that afternoon, she was so not feeling it about 20 minutes before. She got over her half hour of grumpiness and became very excited for her haircut. Emily (hairdresser) took only a inch or so off, just the wispy bits. It is really handy to put her unruly hair in a pony and I wanted to keep that options.

Wednesday evening I head off to Young Women's where they played Human Foosball. It was hilarious and so fun to watch and play near the end. Can't wait to do it again later.

Thursday morning we headed into the Science Centre for a quick trip. Blake the little one year old I watch is pretty chill. He just fits right in, Remy and I gained a little Brother of sorts- we cart him around everywhere with us and he is a great asset.

The Spark Science centre is a great addition to our little routine. Its great to take your little ones for a morning of play in the winter, so much to do, and so much better with friends. We met the Bennett's there for the morning, kids played and mom's chatted. 

I feel like I don't say this enough. Being able to be a Stay at Home Mom while my littles are young and still at home is such a blessing. Justin has been so supportive for the last 10 years with me being able to stay home. We knew it wasn't going to last forever, but I am glad we are able to be slowly  working me into working... haha make sense? Blake is a blessing and cleaning a few houses a week has also been a blessing. Cheers to the Working Moms and Cheers to the stay at home Moms, we have quite the best job eh!!

Lower expectations

We have had one of those weeks where its GO GO GO.

Lots going on with lots of friends and fun.

Tuesday morning before Playgroup we cut our beautiful soap!! 

We made Coconut Lemon scent, the cream looking one. Woodland scent for our mens to use , and somehow it turned out the most beautiful one, the maroon swirl. And Lemongrass the green swirl. This time we also tried using a PVC Pipe to make round soap!

Lovely Green Moons in beautiful discs. Now the soap sits for 6 weeks to cure.

Blake and I had to run into the city durning Playgroup. We had a few things to get done, and he was a trooper sitting in the carseat for a couple hours.

I was greeted by a ton a laundry that afternoon and I finished off the Valentines Bunting for the mantel. The girls had a lovely Piano Lesson with Grandma, after we had a massive blowup a couple days before. Mommy lost her crap with Annaliesse over practicing and lying about practicing, Justin calmly mentioned that if I made practicing a terrible time they would learn to hate Piano! Granted he said this in the midst of my railing on, maybe not the best time to mention it, but once I thought about it....Mommy gave up on her ideal Piano practice schedule and I let the girls practice their way. It has made our afternoons soooo much smoother.
